* Are these Two Related

The Chicago Tribune reports Lindon Watts, who is 17 years old, of the 7300 block of North Damen Avenue, was charged Saturday with aggravated discharge of a firearm, aggravated battery with a firearm and other gun charges in connection with the shooting in an alley in the 600 block of Howard Street shortly after 3 a.m. Friday, police said.

Watts was one of the people wanted, but wasn't caught during the earlier Operation Triple Threat.

Watts knew the victim, who was 17 and also from Chicago. Watts shot him three times because he thought the victim had given police information on Watts' alleged gang activities. The victim was seriously injured in the shooting but was able to tell investigators who shot him, police said.

Quintin Watts, who is 40 years old was arrested in November 2006 for Delivery of a Controlled Substance during Operation Heartbreak Ridge.

Are these two related? If so, I guess this is what 'gang infancy' meant during the official announcement.

BLOGNOTES: The officials told us that these open air drug markets take 2 to 6 months to do. Let's do some math shall we.

If 'Operation Heartbreak Ridge' ended in November '06 and 'Operation Triple Threat' ended in June '07 - that means the police finished one investigation, only to start another one, just a couple of months later, in the same location. That doesn't sound so infant in nature to me. It sounds longer than that.

Until as recently as January, Stone was denying any problems with gangs and drugs and crime in his ward. Only when challenger Naisy Dolar started getting some traction with the public safety issue did Stone do a flip-flop, reversed his long-standing anti-camera position, and ordered the installation of the 1st 2 cameras in the 50th ward just weeks before the election.
