mentioned a alleged shooting/murder that happened yesterday at Clark and Estes. While not confirmed by the Chicago Police Department, I can say there was quite a bit of corroborating evidence in the form of red and yellow 'DO NOT CROSS' police tape located in the public garbage container at the north west corner of Estes and Clark Street.

What I heard on the scanner was 1 person shot by 2-4 people in a large silverish colored car. When the first cop arrived on the scene he told the squad it didn't look good. Another cop gave out a name and birthday (the squad tried to stop him from doing it over the air, to no avail). His name was something to the effect of Ahmad Shavaz, born in 1986. DOA a bit after 6, if I recall. Police were looking for a witness that attempted CPR and had blood all over him. He was taken to St. Francis. Alot of cops were canvassin the area.
I can't believe I remember all this....I need to get a life.
Thanks for the update Robin. I went by the area to research. No one in the laundry mat could speak english whatsoever. The other corner is a huge empty hole.
Not many clues, other than the police tape and your scanner report.
On Thursday at 7:00 PM I called 911 because of what I thought was gang activity I have been seeing this week on Clark and Paulina between Lunt and Estes.
Yesterday day I called 911 because of the gang graffiti on the garage doors north of Touhy Park.
Last night I had company over from outside the community and they came into my home talking about the police tape and what looked like a murder investigation. I keep telling my friends that Rogers Park is getting better only to be proved wrong again as the Alderman hands out donuts under the EL and the police hang out at A&T Grill where the gang activity is located.

Such a nice party starter conversation. What did you talk about at dinner? How the guests were going to get home safely.

If you all are going to be listening in, get it right.
That was the idiot on 2411 doing a namecheck on a stop. Probably a PPO. Also having a scanner while committing a crime is against city law.
You know, Bill, I was just giving information as best I remembered it. As I said, I may need to get a life for remembering what I did- but you may need to be born again entirely for knowing it was 2411 doing a name check. As for...
'Also having a scanner while committing a crime is against city law'- who are you talking to? Any respectible person with a scanner knows that, and the bad guys don't give a damn.
I read a lot of this blog before posting and saw that there were a few nasty spirited people who commented. I didn't expect to meet one right of the box.
Thanks Robin for contributing. Don't pay attention to the piss ants on the blog who have nothing better to do than to cite arcane law about whether you can have scanners or not. Ignore those pissy ants (nasty spirited) and continue to add value as you did. Thanks.
