I live on north wayne between pratt and morse. Around 3am today i distinctly heard 5 or six gun shots. I was wondering if anyone knew any information on what really happened.
I called 911 last night about what sounded like gunshots around Pratt between Sheridan and Lakewood, but that was at 1AM.
At least it sounded like shots. Did not sound like firecrackers.
I heard those shots too. They were spaced a lot, and so I didn't know if they were fireworks or not.
They did not sound anything like firecrackers. Maybe they were another type of fireworks, but to me it sounded like 3 rounds of 2 shots each being fired. First very close by, at Pratt & Sheridan or in the alley, then further away.
I heard that all the way over at Lunt and Wolcott.
Those were some odd firecrackers :P
At 3:45AM I called 911 after my husband threw his body across us and our 1 year son after about 5 gun shots, it sounded like the alley between morse and farwell/ wayne and lakewood. These were not the first gun shots I heard last night, but the 2 I heard around 1 ..wasn't sure if it was infact gun shots. I'm sick to death about this. I just don't know what to do.
One thing I do know is EVERY POLICE OFFICER ON OUR BEAT SHOULD BE SWINGING BY THE GOLDEN MINI MART EVERY CHANCE THEY GET!!!!!!!!! It is getting really bad there and I avoid it at all costs.
Sorry everyone, my batteries in the scanner died out about 11 p.m. and needed charging. Can't give you anything official on this one.

I do recall after hearing the shots, i heard through my window a guy screaming and shorty after i saw a patrol car wiz down north of wayne. after that i heard nothing.
Something was up last night. Around 11 p.m. when walking dogs we saw several groups of white t-shirt'd teens cruising the streets. We both commented that something seemed odd. Before we could make it all the way around the block we saw 5 patrol cars, lights flashing, no sirens going south from Touhy area on both Greenview and Ashland. At 1 a.m. I heard many loud bangs but from Ashland it sounded like M-80s.
We live on Farwell at the end closest to the beach, and we also heard the shots that sounded like they were coming from the alley behind Cafe Suron. They started there, and it sounded like they were moving closer to the back of our building, which faces the alley between Farwell and Pratt. It was quite disturbing, I must say. We called the police right away, but never heard any sirens or saw any lights so don't really know what came out of us calling it in.
We heard what sounded like multiple guns, at least two, shooting off at least 15 to 20 rounds. Otherwise, it was dead silent. No human noises or cop cars. Nothing. It was weird.
I didn't hear anything myself, but am a pretty sound sleeper.
Today though, it seemed like an endless siren from fire trucks and ambulances going for about an hour. Was there a fire? Trouble on Clark Street? I plan to drop in at the festival tomorrow and check it out.
Please everyone show up at CAPs Monday and communicate what is going on. The meeting is at the Common Cup on Morse at 7pm.
i'm sure the police would love to stop by the golden mini mart and patrol morse/farwell/glenwood/wayne and such....but see on the weekends the bosses send them to the ghetto.
the gang teams haven't been in RP on a friday or saturday night since april.
Apparently it didn't occur to them that if they take all the police patrol away from an area, all the trouble is going to migrate to that area. Seems kinda like a DUH thing to me. If they're not careful, Roger's Park is going to become the next "South Side". Too bad there just isn't any simple solution to this problem, like a snap of the fingers, and BAM all the 'bangers are gone.
V&J, would you have heard those shots around 1AM? That is when I heard them, and they seemed to be fired in the alley directly behind my building on Pratt west of Sheridan, then further away.
