A Loyola University student and 'Broken Heart' follower emailed me to let my readers know there was another car accident that occurred on Sheridan Road this morning about 5:45 AM. The crash happened by the Loyola EL stop, in front of Bruno's Tavern.
Update: No fatalities in this two car accident. The 6400 block of North Sheridan Road is closed in both directions this morning until the cars can be removed.

holy cow... that looks horrible!
good to hear that no one was killed cause it certainly looks like someone could have been.
how do you get your pictures so fast? that is fantastic that you're on top of everything ... and at that hour in the morning. thanks for all your hard work keeping us informed. if this happened on a work day.. i'd know to stay away from that intersection.
:)
do you how it happened?
Another thing about Sheridan Road...the traffic signals are unbelievably screwed up. Worst syncronization of lights I ever saw.
You get a red light at Columbia, say, just after you got a green at Pratt... I notice it's worst in morning rush, during what time the southbound signals seem diabolically designed to make drivers stomp their brakes as often as possible. Causes a lot of running of the lights.
This street needs its traffic management totally revamped, from allowable speed to light syncronization.
At the risk of being off topic, I just wanted to let you know that I enjoy your blog. I don't always agree with everything you put up here, but I appreciate the effort and dedication. I think Rogers Park is a better neighborhood because of this blog.
this is nuts... there are 20 traffic control workers at every intersection downtown and there is a wreck here every week, and theres no getting away from sheridan road
Craig, do you know about Ald. Moore's meeting tomorrow about the Morse Streetscape? I am assuming so, but you never know. Betsy mentioned it in an e-mail.
that area right by the loyola el stop is crazy. I cross it nearly everyday to get to loyola and cars are notorious for blowing the first red light southbound to go under the El. Happens all the time. Sometimes, but more rare, they blow through the el underpass going northbound. Ive heard that that light is hard for people to see given the el bridge.
The light is hard to see, and motorists tend to be looking at the light at Arthur, which turns green first, usually.
But motorists blow the lights at other points along Sheridan pretty routinely. I never take it for granted that the cross traffic will stop at the red just because I am walking on the green.
And don't EVER walk against the light, no matter how far away the nearest car appears. He's moving faster than you think.
Screwy light syncronization + high speeds + heavy traffic = excessive no of fatalities and serious injuries.
maybe we should get one of those lifelike cutouts they featured on cnn to slow down traffic on the road
