* Is Joe Moore Foolish Enough?

Question-Authority said...> "What a joke -- could Joe Moore really be foolish enough to participate in a give away of this magnitude?

This is such an outrageous waste of taxpayer funds. Since when did the taxpayers of the city become responsible for helping one particular landlord fix up his property?

Obviously this joker thought he was going to convert this ugly ass piece-of-shit to condos and make a fortune. Only once he kicked everyone out and started the building he realized "uh, oh -- I'm not going to be able to sell these".

So here he is begging for taxpayer help by appealing to Joe's good liberal instincts of doing something/anything to advance the cause of "affordable housing".

Relax Joe, there is no way that this structure will ever be anything but affordable housing. The market will dictate that.

Nobody will pay big bucks to live here and so eventually the landlord will have to take reasonable rents. Oh, and for rehab, let this A-hole loose it in foreclosure and then someone with some sense will step in and complete the work that was started and get the units rentable."

This was just on online/NBC news...

According to police, the man has holed up in the First Commercial Bank, at 6945 N. Clark Street. (Rogers Park)

Most business people's attitude toward gov. money and any free money they can get is: Take What They Give You.

For the past 50 years our various state and local governments, as well as the federal government, have made free taxpayers money available for any entity that makes a good political case for getting it.

Let's put a stop to welfare for all private purpose entities. If it isn't this landlord, it will be someone else.

That means we stop funding for our pet projects, too. It means many art groups I love will lose their funding and be strictly dependent upon voluntary donations.

We have to stop the spending madness somewhere.
