Cease-Fire question at CAPS beat 2431 meeting last night: Citizen asked if the absence of Cease-Fire is noticeable.
CAPS beat 2431 Officer: Said she could not tell the difference. Didn’t find them very police friendly. Officer said they would stare them down on walks.
BLOGNOTES: I've covered Cease-Fire since it came to Rogers Park. I find this question amusing. Where was this questionnaire when CeaseFire held all those after-shooting, circle prayers the last 3 years?
Shootings are random and Cease-Fire is all pre-planned. How does Cease-Fire exactly stop a shooting? Cease-Fire is a joke. It's a political feel-good program that hasn't stopped ONE shooting in Rogers Park. They have no actual data to support their grandstand, media statements.

Looking back @ Cease-Fire circle prayers.
Rogers Park Neighbor (Jocelyn) reports about 15 people showed up to the October '07 CAPS beat 2431 meeting.
Yeah, but it enables them to get grants from the G or the City. As far as I'm concerned programs like this accomplish one thing. They employ the otherwise unemployable.
> ... it enables them to get grants from the G or the City.
CeaseFire does not get any money from the City or any other local funding source, they are entirely funded out of the "member initiatives" of state legislators
What does "Member Initiatives" mean?
polite term for pork
The E.D. of O.N.E., CeaseFire Rogers Park's provider, spirited defense of pork:
1 man's pork is another's priority
Communities expect their elected officials to bring home bacon

conspicuously fails to mention CeaseFire
I've been asked to let you know that there were probably more like 25 citizens there. I probably miscounted. Included in that were myself, Alderman Joe Moore, Mary Jane from RPCC, Alicia from the Alderman's office, Renee from Dev Corp. Total with police about 33.
I apologize to my 1375 readers for this error - and to the 25 people that attended last nights CAPS meeting too.
You'd think with the mess they made flyering the neighborhood, they'd get a better turn-out than a bunch of Joe's flunky's asking where Cease-Fire is.
State or local taxes, what diff?
The taxpayers have been paying for this worthless feel-good whether the funds are allocated by the state or by a local authority.
Let's see how many other worthless "feel-good" city programs we can axe.
Most of all, let's demand legislation to reverse and end all programs that funnel taxpayers' money to private business interests, beginning with TIF districts and other corporate gimmes.
We citizens are not bottomless pits.Every single one of us among the non-rich is feeling the pain, and the worst thing is that every singe tax increase is on a regressive tax, which is defined as one that hits people harder the lower their income is.
And where do they flyer the neighborhood? I didn't get one - or anyone on our block.
