* Another Broken Campaign Promise

"The way has been cleared for the construction of a new fire station which will double the size of the current station on Greenleaf and make for better and speedier fire service for Rogers Park residents. According to 49th Ward Alderman Joe Moore, the last obstacle to building the new fire station was cleared. Happily the new station will be built and functioning by the summer of 2007.”
Alderman Joe Moore
Rogers Park Builders Group Newsletter - Winter 2007

Blognotes: Okay, it's now the fall of 2007, other than Michael Glasser, does anyone see a new Rogers Park Fire Station on Clark Street? Or is this just more bullshit propaganda printed by a Glasser on behalf of Lyin' Joe Moore?

does anyone besides craig look at construction delays as lies?
they are pouring concrete. when things get as fubar as the folks from the mercado got this, big contractors move on to something else. they get back to you when they are ready.
so, if it is some crime to be behind schedule on a construction project, instead of neighborhood heroes, the mercado owners should be behind bars, i guess.

Been There,

Thanks for your expert statements on the construction process.

Just an FYI-

There is a huge recession in the construction industry. Thousands of union workers are sitting at home not collecting a pay check. Are you telling me contractors are passing up work just for the larger projects. I highly doubt that. Many construction companies have had large lay offs in the last year. Contractors are hungry for work. Your statement should be removed for being so ignorant.

Joe has only been taking credit for this fire station for 10 years. So I guess every 10 years or so he eventually comes through on something.

Joe's taking credit for the remodeling at Dominick's. I guess they had to remodel after 10 years of not cleaning the store.

Yeah, Bosworth.

That store opened in late 1999.

It was a badly-run store from the outset- real putz of a manager.

Last year I entered that store only once, and had to use the ladie's room. I was absolutely appalled at the level of filth in it.

I had the manager paged to get him on it, and he wouldn't answer the page.

Give it a year-it will be just as dirty as it was last year, unless they 'renovate' the management there.

And yeah, it is amusing how Joe takes credit for the reno.

i know a little about the construction business because i spent some time working in it. workers are plentiful, but it take a little more than that to run a job. the kind of companies that do these jobs, and the size and complexity of them makes scheduling a little difficult. management teams and equipment are not sitting around looking for work, even if carpenters and laborers are.
you are the one making the stupid posts.

As it happens, the firestation has been on the table since 1998 at least.

I understand about construction timetables, but the fact is that construction should have started many years ago.

Why should joe be any different - like alderman like citizen of the 49th Ward.
