* Joe Moore - All Talk, No Action

We've all heard his hot air talk before. Joe's progressive. Joe's independent. Crime is down. Well, looks as if the Reader has finally learned what I've been telling you for years. Joe is all talk, no action. Basically, Joe is so full of shit, his eyes have turned brown.

Blognotes: Let's look back at a couple of projects Joe has dropped the ball on this year.

* 1) The Morse Avenue Streetscape.

* 2) The New Clark Street Fire Station.

Any predictions how many times in 2008 Joe Moore will promise us these projects will start? Or has Joe hoped all us dumb voters have totally forgotten about those empty and unfulfilled promises he made to the people during the 2007 election season?

Wow, the Readers commenters are worse than mine.

Great job Craig. You added so much to the conversation. Once again you prove that the only reason you do this crap is to draw attention to yourself.

I agree that this is much of the same and way too much hot air but what on earth do you expect when they/we are all just backed up against a brick wall and an iron fence. Would you prefer zero attempts by these Alderman to at least keep the conversation going? What do you think might be a better way to get some transparency and independent scrutiny of the Daley administration?

It's a hell of a grip he has. There is a fine line when it comes to criticizing the Mayor and you need to be aware of that line or you get nothing.

While I think Joe and many other Pols could do better themselves in terms of transparency and bringing all voices to the table, but I don't think they are WUSSES.

I think they are keenly aware of the reality and of the parlor game that is Chicago politics.

I found the suggestion that Moore might be worthy of "leading" an independent faction in our glorious and esteemed City Council laughable.

Foie Gras man to the rescue.

Shit.

This is very persistent Chicago urban myth - aldermen have to go along with Mayor Daley or their beloved home ward would suffer. You never here the aldermen explain their overwhelming pro-Daley voting records like this, just their apologists.

Let's think this through. Supposed Daley reduced some City service to a ward. Don't you suppose Moore would call a press conference? I think he knows how.

Joe Moore votes like a machine tool because it benefits Joe Moore, it has nothing to do with the ward.

Perhaps you could consider changing the name of your blog to the "Golden Shower of Rogers Park."

I think I see a Joe Moore Urinal in my future.

Broken Heart,
I am curious to know, what is your full explanation on how Joe Moore got re-elected? Exactly why did people still vote for him?

Independent office, staffers, funding? Sounds like these guys need to take a few basic accounting and finance classes. Deciphering a budget is something every freshman business student can handle by the end of their first semester.

Something else is going on here and it's likely got more to do with uncovering where they can pull support from Daley without losing their money machines (read: SEIU, Teamsters, etc.).

Um, excuse me, didn't Moore run for re-election recently as a leader of "progressives" in City Council?

Funny, I don't recall him hedging, "Of course, we don't want to do anything to jeopardize basic City services."

How about that Big Box thing? What were the repercussions for the 49th? Didn't Moore realize he was risking "getting nothing?"

How about that foie gras dust-up? Daley said it was silly. Has it impacted snow removal?
