* Rogers Park Lawyer Goes Up Against Military Man (And Bloggers)

All this Over a Keyed Car

Edward said....> "Great blog. Just when I'm back in town on leave I read this Blackfive's blogpost and it looks like this story is going to blow-up nationally.

And it all revolves around a Rogers Park resident. I thought you might be interested in it.

* On December 1st, 2007, Marine Sergeant Mike McNulty, went to visit a friend in Chicago before deploying to say goodbye. While saying goodbye, at about 11-am, he noticed a man leaning up against his car. Mike left his friend's apartment and caught the man keying his car on multiple sides. During the exchange, the offender made additional anti-military comments. According to the comments, the offender lives on Eastlake Terrace.

Jay R. Grodner

77XX N. Eastlake Terrace

Chicago, IL. 60626-1304
(773) XXX-3030

Blognotes: One of our Anti-war Alderman's constituents damages a military man's vehicle. This should really be interesting. Jay Grodner, living in a ward under the control of Joe Moore, a known anti-military politician, defaces a military mans vehicle. Is this what all military personal can expect when venturing into Joe Moore country? Has Joe Moore created a hate in Rogers Park towards military personal?

No less than ten bloggers have weighed in on the breaking story. And to say they're pissed is a understatement. Have a peek.

"Chicago lawyer Jay R. Grodner is a giant douche!"

Here a blogger puts out the call to duty....> "U.S. Marine Needs Legal Help Against Jackass Lawyer, Jay R. Grodner!

Another SOS....> "Please help this Marine defeat that intolerant anti-military scum! Leftist Intolerance: anti-military Chicago lawyer Jay R. Grodner keyes up Marines car, please help!"

Someone tests the offenders manhood...> "I guess the part that frosts me is this 4-inch dicked thug is counting on the Marine's conduct to avoid his own beating, dismisses him with an offer of $100 for his $2400 in damage and then whines the Marine "called him a Jew". "I'm not going to make it easy on this kid!" Jay R. Grodner.

The blogging doesn't stop....> "When he did get caught he lied, cried and tried to play the victim. Real courage there. WAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA."

And another blogger says...> "Jay R. Grodner, Don’t key a Marine’s car. Did Jay R. Grodner Commit A Felony?"

One more blogger says...> "Jay R. Grodner. One should wonder if this attorney should keep his license to practice law in the fine state of Illinois."

Another blogger says...> "Jay R. Grodner. A dirty rotten scoundrel.

Yet, one more blogger says...> "Another liberal nutjob becomes unhinged. Jay R. Grodner, Absolute-scumbag!"

This one's for Mo Cahill....> "There’s a simple reason that I’m never going to wear my politics on my car in the form of ribbons, bumper stickers. Scum-sucking bottom-dweller Jay R. Grodner."

Let's finish off the bloggers with this one.... "I hope that every time someone Googles Grodner’s name when deciding whether or not to hire him, that this story is the first thing that appears…and they decide to look somewhere else. Anti-military Chicago lawyer, Jay R. Grodner, vandalized the car of Marine Sgt. Mike McNulty to the tune of $2400 in damages simply because he hates the military."

Like I said, this should be a real barn-burner. Some dude in Rogers Park just pissed off the military, starting a blog riot. Hey Joe and Mo, maybe you can bring your band of loonies and protest this American soldier and his cause?

Monday (Today) @ 1:30 pm, Belmont and Western on the north side of Chicago is the court date if you want to support Marine Sergeant Mike McNulty. Media types welcome. Bloggers and citizen journalists too.

Did you check out some of the comments? One said...> "First, let me say, assshole! Then, I will say that since my better half is now working in Chicago, remind me never to use that law firm."

Note to commenter. Don't use any storefront lawyers in the 6900 block of North Sheridan Road either.

Here's another comment....> "Bet mister big sh*t lawyer has a really bad day Monday.

Craig Gernhardt said...

One more...> "Even if the jackass 'lawyer'/accused felon does file for a continuance, the Marine is protected by the Service-members Civil Relief Act. The trial can't be held, and a verdict can't be reached until the Marine is back home from overseas.

Hopefully this Marine's legal counsel is competent enough to do his/her homework on the SCRA.

I have confidence that justice will prevail in this case, and the race-card-playing piece of shit that keyed up the young Marine's car will be punished as he rightly deserves."

Gee, I'm glad someone has confidence.

The Atorney Registration and displanary committie has been notified.

Also I plan to stop by our local Marine Corp watering hole on Clark Street and mention this action.

Nearly 100 former active duty marines live in the 60626.

Thought you would like to know that Jay was censured by the ARDC in 1983. For more information on Jay, go to www.iardc.org. Go to Lawyer search and type in his name.

Some a-hole keyed a car. What does that have to do with an Alderman? I love the fact that when Joe tries to claim credit for anything in this neighborhood you rip him for it, but when some random a-hole does something it's clearly his fault.

i guess i have more nerve that your average blogger. i wear mine right out there.

just because something has echoed around the blogosphere doesn't make it true, craig. 10 websites didn't "cover it". one notorious propaganda organ wrote a story, and 10 idiots lapped it up. because it fit what they already believed. you can publish this kind of one-sided, unsubstantiated bullshit if you want craig, just don't try to call yourself a joooournalist. k?

Michael Z. Williamson said...

While I do want to hear both sides, we do have a keyed car, a police report and an apparent dispute, sufficient for a hearing.

Alleged offending party is an attorney whose legal violations started about a month after he passed the bar (which is typical for IL, but I digress).

In response to the publicity, instead of posting a position on his site, or issuing any press release, he's simply SHUT DOWN HIS SITE and DISCONNECTED ALL HIS NUMBERS. That's costing him a lot of business.

And as someone who's been in the "news" and in assorted locations to be part of stories about the military firsthand (meaning I was there, on duty, when a reporter or his paid lackey showed up), Black Five is far less a "propaganda organ" than say, the professional lying $#!+bags at CNN, ABC, SeeBS or AP.

It doesn't affect me directly yet, so I'm waiting to see.

But I hardly think some Marine keyed his own car, identified an innocent civilian as a perp and started all this just for fun or sympathy.

How on earth does this have anything to do with Joe Moore?

Craig Gernhardt said...

For all you absent minded citizens who ask why Joe is involved.

Because he got himself involve in the anti-war rhetoric.

Al Iverson said...

Craig-So? How does this Joe's anti-war stance relate to his involvement in keying somebody's car? It doesn't make sense. A great many folks are anti-war but pro-troop. Does everyone who is against the war now have to accept some complicity in this stupid act? I think you're grasping for a Joe Moore connection here.

The North Coast said...

Craig, as much as I dislike Joe Moore, it is quite a stretch to lay this incident at his doorstep just because he shares one viewpoint with a vicious piece of garbage like Grodner.

This is like saying that just because Ann Coulter is a malicious, shrill, lying, truth-twisting lunatic, that every person who agrees with one or more of her beliefs is, too.

As it happens, I oppose the war. Hillary Clinton, a favorite punching bag of the right, is a supporter of the war, and of resolutions that may lead to more war. Does Clinton's support of the war make her a great person?

We have quite enough to lay at Moore's doorstep if we stick strictly to the truth, so let's stick to the truth, and to rational arguments.

Craig Gernhardt said...

And just to give you confused people a example why Moore is at issue. Bin Ladin didn't ram the planes into the buildings, but everyone blames him for it.

dave said...

Hey Dave, You want to talk about credibility, leave your last name.

Okay... I linked to my profile, which links to my blog. It shouldn't have been too difficult to figure out who I was.

I will say it again - to link this attack to Joe Moore is not just ignorant. It is blatantly using an unrelated event to attack a politician that you despise, even though said politician had absolutely nothing to do with this event. It is being blatantly dishonest and misleading.

Lets just hope your readers are smart enough to know better.

-dave lowitzki

dave said...

Bin Ladin didn't ram the planes into the buildings, but everyone blames him for it.

Right... because being against the war in Iraq is somehow similar to calling for fellow Muslims to kill Americans.

You have to be kidding me.

Craig Gernhardt said...

That's better Mr. Lowitzki. I appreciate a debater who willing to let me know where he stands on life's issues.

Dave has a massive college education. He resume proves he's so much smarter than me. He's is a wanna-be lawyer who has tree-hugging liberal tenancies, he currently works as a researcher with SEIU Local 880, and is a self proclaimed fighter against the powers that be.
It's no wonder Mr. Lowitzki shills for Joe Moore on this blog. Enough said.

Al Iverson said...

Poor form, Craig.

dave said...

Well Craig... my education and job isn't really relevant to the discussion.

Of course, you don't actually respond to the discussion. You instead choose to turn it into something personal.

I'll say it again - Grodner's attack has/had absolutely nothing to do with Joe Moore. And you know it.

And being against the war in Iraq is not the same as hating the military.

dave said...

Look Craig... I am not interested in getting into some kind of personal attack war in the comments.

I just think that it is intellectually dishonest to even imply that Joe Moore had anything to do with this anti-military attack. And I am pretty sure that you know it.

It is one thing to despise Joe Moore. It is a whole different thing to attack Joe Moore for things that he is not even involved in.

And just curious... is "the north coast" "shilling" for Joe Moore too? Why do you turn things personal against me when "north coast" essentially said the same thing?

Al Iverson said...

I agree with Dave. It seems dishonest to draw a connection between this attack and Joe Moore.

Craig Gernhardt said...

That's a interesting point.

During the election, Joe Moore used one of Laura's comments on this blog to paint Don Gordon as a racist.

Joe basically took a comment of hers, put it on a flier and had ACORN pass the flyer around the various EL stops.

Joe somehow said Laura's words in this blog were Don's actions. Where was your moral outrage on this Dave? You hypocrite.

dave said...

Craig... I am talking about what happened in April. I am talking about this post.

How does what Joe Moore (or ACORN) did in April justify your dishonesty in this post?

dave said...

And for what it is worth, I hated the campaign tactics of both Joe Moore and Don Gordon, just like I hate the campaign tactics of most, if not all, politicians.

But I am still not sure what that has to do with the dishonesty in this post.

Al Iverson said...

You're grasping, Craig. Nothing wrong with afflicting the comfortable, but only when you come by it honestly. Blaming it on somebody else's college education, blaming it on the fact that they didn't scream about something bad Joe Moore ACTUALLY did, is diffusion and deflection. It's not mature, and it reflects poorly upon you. Saying, "Where were you when Joe Moore did X" is fighting stupid with stupid. I thought you were better than that.

Craig Gernhardt said...

Okay Dave and Al, Here's what I printed. Let's look at it again....> "One of our Anti-war Alderman's constituents damages a military man's vehicle. "

Where is there a lie in this blog post? Joe is anti-war. It's on public record. You can't deny that. Mr. Grodner is one of his constituents, he lives in the 49th ward.

Joe controls ALL issues in this ward. Because he's poor at dealing with ward issues like crime, he creates worldly issues to make him popular with the common folk.

The war is front and center on his platform. Again, all I asked, not blamed, were these questions.

" Is this what all military personal can expect when venturing into Joe Moore country? Has Joe Moore created a hate in Rogers Park towards military personal?"

This is all I asked. Where did I blame Joe? Where's the dishonesty?

Maybe you want to try to answer those questions instead of spinning blame back to me.

dave said...

Okay... I will answer your questions that do not imply anything at all:

Is this what all military personal can expect when venturing into Joe Moore country?

No.

Has Joe Moore created a hate in Rogers Park towards military personal?

No.

That was easy.

Craig Gernhardt said...

Thanks for that Dave. Now go tell that to the dozen plus blogging marines and their 1000's of commenters that have been responding to this issue in the last two days.

They don't believe you tree-hugging wanna-be lawyers from the Peoples Republic of Rogers Park. They think you tree-hugging lawyer types are pond-scum commies.

Craig Gernhardt said...

And boy, are they pissed.

Craig Gernhardt said...

Hey Dave, Go over and reprimand Second City Cop.

Al Iverson said...

Is this what all military personal can expect when venturing into Joe Moore country? Has Joe Moore created a hate in Rogers Park towards military personal?

No. It's actually possible for people to be douchebags completely free of the influence of Joe Moore. I've seen them outside of the 49th ward. They exist. It seems similarly likely that there are, on occasion, people inside the 49th ward who do not fully agree with Joe Moore on every possible issue. You seem to be living proof. If, by some amazing coincidence, you and Joe Moore happen to both have visited Morseland in the past five years, does that mean that he has paved the way for you to support it? That your ability to enter Morseland was entirely contingent upon Joe paving the way for you, as it were? This is the argument you're making, and it makes you look like a fool.

I've found your blog interesting, and I've followed it and others for information on the politics of the neighborhood since moving here about a year and half ago. You post some good stuff sometimes, but you also get it so amazingly wrong sometimes, based on the fact that you're absolutely blinded by your hate for some people, to the point of slobbering incoherence. It makes it hard to discern the truth from the B.S., and this post, and your follow up comments, have really opened my eyes to the seeming fact that you're not able to tell the difference yourself.

Gosh! Somebody might have Googled that other guy's name! They might Google mine, too! They may also even read these comments, and see that even though of us who agree that the d-bag who keyed the car deserves a swift kick in the nuts, the only place it has any connection to Joe Moore seems to be just beneath your hat.

You accuse us of spinning it back to you. Yet, you continue to stick to the "is this what people can expect" question as if there is only one hive mind, controlling everyone in the entire zip code. Besides yourself, there's clear proof in the wealth of differing opinions here, on other blogs, at Jarheads, etc.

You come off here as so utterly desperate to blame everything bad in the world on Joe Moore, that it makes me wonder what other important data points you've gotten wrong in the past.

It's really disappointing that you'll go for the jugular seemingly regardless of what the facts actually are.

Al Iverson said...

Why would he need to reprimand Second City Cop? They made no mention of Joe Moore's connection to the supposed conspiracy. That's uniquely a "Broken Heart" phenomenon.

dave said...

They don't believe you tree-hugging wanna-be lawyers from the Peoples Republic of Rogers Park. They think you tree-hugging lawyer types are pond-scum commies.

They can think whatever they want. But to make a generalization out one incident in Rogers Park would be pretty foolish.

You really don't get it, do you. I am not justifying the lawyer's actions. At all. And I never even implied anything of the sort.

I am simply calling you out for your dishonest implications regarding Joe Moore's relationship to this incident.

dave said...

Go over and reprimand Second City Cop.

Ummm... why?

If SCC made any ignorant generaliations about Joe Moore or Rogers Park because of one incident by one person who happened to live in the neighborhood, than maybe I would "reprimand" SCC.

But it doesn't look like he did that.

BTW... still wondering why you ignore the fact that "the north coast" called you out on it too. Is it easier to attack those who disagree with you on other things too? Or do you want to pretend that only "tree-hugging wanna-be lawyers from the Peoples Republic of Rogers Park" disagree with you?

esdsdie said...

That's highly immature. I myself am extremely against the war in iraq, but i wouldn't resort to keying someone's car like a 13-year-old boy. for a lawyer this man was acting childish (which really isn't a quality one should look for in legal representation, i think.) hopefully he loses business over this, as i'm sure others don't want someone who acts like a kid as their lawyer.

Craig Gernhardt said...

Dave said....> "If SCC made any ignorant generaliations about Joe Moore or Rogers Park because of one incident by one person who happened to live in the neighborhood, than maybe I would "reprimand" SCC."

You answered my question about yourself. You're nothing more than a SIEU shill for Moore.

Al,This blog has nothing to do with you. Don't like the blog content, move on. Simple as that. Losing you as reader won't "utterly desperate" me one bit. You can take your punk ass comments elsewhere.

Craig Gernhardt said...

And for the record Al, even though Joe's tried to shut this blog down before - in three years of blogging, I haven't been sued by lawsuit-happy Joe Moore once.

If there's anything false here, I'm sure I would've seen a lawsuit by now.

Al Iverson said...

Who said anything about a lawsuit? Asked a simple question about what the actual connection between this and Joe Moore was. I guess your response is to tell me to take my "punk ass" elsewhere. You sure showed me. Gawsh.

dave said...

You answered my question about yourself.

How so? Because I dare question your false implications?

You're nothing more than a SIEU shill for Moore.

Not at all. But keep pretending you know who I am and know what I am about.

Again... my point stands, and you again refuse to respond to it.

This ignorant attack by the lawyer has nothing to do with Joe Moore. And you know it.

Still waiting for you to acknowledge north coast's comment.

dave said...

You're nothing more than a SIEU shill for Moore.

One more thing on this ignorant comment. I was a shill for Moore I probably wouldn't say that I don't like the guy as an alderman. Further, I was reading and commenting on this blog before I ever got hired at my current job.

And my current job has absolutely nothing to do with my perspective of Joe Moore or Rogers Park.

And it especially has nothing to do with my view of this situation, in which you have falsely inserted Joe Moore in an incident that has absolutely nothing to do with him.

But if it is easier, go ahead and keep making it personal instead of actually responding to what is being said.

Craig Gernhardt said...

SEIU 880 shill named Dave Lowitzki said...> " I was reading and commenting on this blog before I ever got hired at my current job."

Really Mr. Lowitzki? Profiler says Dave, on blogger since November 2007. So, what other fake names have you used to comment on this blog?

And as for North Coast, I rarely agree with her postings. Why would this time be any different.

dave said...

Really.

I have been commenting under "dave" the entire time. I recently changed my blogger account to correspond with my other google accounts, which is why it says it started in November '07.

No fake names here. Good try though.

Craig Gernhardt said...

All right Dave, I'll buy that one. Even though that didn't happen to my profile when I switched my google account over.

Still, it looks like we'll have to stay in disagreement on this matter.

I've seen too many cases where political leaders use issues like the war to get their supporters worked to a frenzy to help them rally support for their cause. Enough so, these crazed political supporters of said causes do crazy - and sometimes illegal things.

Joe did the same thing with the Big Box issue. If Joe was so concerned about a living wage for all, why did he stop fighting for the cause after he got elected. Where's a new version of the Big Box ordinance? I haven't heard a peep from Joe on the Big Box issue since the election. Not one peep. But that's for another blog post.
