* Storefront Ambulance Chaser Caught Breaking the Law

If you've ever walked down the west side of the 6900 block of North Sheridan Road, you'll always find a bunch of piles of dog-shit laying all over the parkway. 6970 North Sheridan Road, Unit #C more specifically. Most neighbors call this section of the parkway the dog-shit, land-mine area of Rogers Park.

Ever wonder who's the totally irresponsible dog owner that thoughtlessly left that dog-shit behind for someone to step in?

Well folks, guess what? Someone in the neighborhood caught the culprit on film this weekend. The pictures don't lie.

It's Tom Westgard - the rarely employed storefront lawyer. Tom can usually be found posing as some hypocritical self-righteous blog-preacher, defending Joe Moore all over the Internet.

In the last nine months, that seems to be Westgard's ONLY job. Running a dozen blogs and keeping a 24 hour monitor on a dozen more. It's no wonder he doesn't have time to pick up his dog shit. He probably doesn't even have time to wipe his own ass after crapping. He can't waste time picking up his dog shit.

Blognotes: One has to wonder why Tom Westgard doesn't pick up his dog shit. Does Westgard think because he's such great buddies with the Alderman, he's above the law? Or maybe he's in a hurry to get back to the computer to monitor all the blogs and comments?

Oh, and one more thing. Isn't this dog suppose to be on a leash? Can you imagine the extra revenue the city could generate following this dead-beat around? Just look at the series of photographs, Westgard is looking around the neighborhood like some criminal or something. This is what the open air drug market salesman do when they know they're doing something wrong. They look around to see if anyones looking at them doing something illegal.

Hat tip, or in this case, 'Shoe Wipe' to Tom Mannis at the Bench.

Oh, and I'm sure Mr. Spin-maker will come up with a plethora of excuses. Here's a doozy from one of his dozen blogs.

"Basically, he's {Tom's dog} had the shits since I {Tom} got him. Sometimes it's outright liquid, sometimes it's just a little on the loose side."

Any guesses how long he keeps this blog public?

For a guy who spends so much time pointing fingers at others (obviously not much work to do), you would think he would be more responsible about leaving dog waste on the public way!

That's disgusting.

If that dog has had diarrhea for a long time, perhaps Tom should take the dog to the vet, hmmmm?

Regardless of whether the person in question picked up the poop or not... my reaction to this posting was something like.

"So you have one neighborhood blogger following another neighborhood blogger around, taking pictures of them in the hope that they make a mistake."

Am I the only one here that thinks that... This. Is. Creepy. As. Fuck?

Is Tom Mannis our very own Jim Lahey?

Can't help but agree with Mark Fletcher... Pot, meet Kettle. Kettle, meet Pot.

I'm grateful for the community news I get from here, but have to stop reading it for days or weeks at a time because I can't stomach the idiotic pissing contests and junior-high level rumor mill. Yep, it's your blog so you can do what you like, I know the refrain. This sort of blog warfare b.s. doesn't reflect well on you.

If some 8 year old kid on the street calls me a doody-head, I don't stop and yell insults back at him, a grown man arguing with a child. The same applies to adults that behave like children, it doesn't have to be dignified with a response.

I'd just like to clarify that I am not acting as an apologist for the neighbor accused; if there was indisputable proof that said neighbor let his dog crap on the sidewalk without picking it up, then yeah, that's pretty reprehensible. That neigbor should be ashamed of himself.

However. I am concerned at Mannis's actions. I think its pretty well known that Mannis and the accused do not get on. I do not see any proof that Mannis was not following the accused in order to expose them for the (alleged) incident.

If we permit this kind of action, I think its a comment on ourselves - we live in a neighborhood, not a police state.

what? I don't see any proof that he was following him around either. regardless, what's your point?

If the guy is letting his dog crap all over the neighborhood and not cleaning it up, and someone follows him around all day to take pictures of it, who cares? perhaps if he'd pick up the shit in the first place, there would be nothing to take pictures of.

man, what world are you living in? if you aren't in your own house, you are under surveillance. I saw a report recently that stated how many times the average american was caught on tape every day. I can't remember the number, but it was pretty shocking.

between the people who don't shovel, and the dog shit assholes, the city could be making a lot of money on fines.

Ok - do you have proof that he didnt pick up the dog litter? There's proof that the dog actually did take a crap, but thats about all you can conclude? Can you prove otherwise?

And this justifies Mannis's actions in what way? I dont care to have my picture taken without my position, whether its the government or an individual.

Isnt it ironic that on his own blog Mannis compares the signing of Lisbon Treaty to the Third Reich, yet he has no qualms about spying on his neigbors?

If the owner of the dog did not pick up the dog litter, why did Mannis not immediately challenge him? Why did he have to wait to post it on a blog?

Actually, V&J, the dog took a full minute to squeeze that one out. Looked more like constipation. If you're so concerned, V&J, why don't YOU steal the dog and take it to a vet?

Mark Fletcher, you wrote "I dont care to have my picture taken without my position, whether its the government or an individual."
I don't know what the fuck that means, but here's a newsflash, genius. Tom Westgard is a bona fide public figure. He has little choice. He's kind of like Britney Spears, but not as talented.

Fletcher,
You're a real idiot. You asked, "did Mannis not immediately challenge him? Why did he have to wait to post it on a blog?" In case you couldn't tell, I was across the street. Are you advocating running after people to challenge them to pick up after their dogs? And you have a problem with me posting a photo of a public figure breaking the law? You need to get your priorities straight, bozo.

Hey Tom,

Thanks for the kind words. I'll leave you to go back to your blog and "Document the suicide of the west"... I guess between spelling bees and rampant dog littering we're well and truly fucked.

Siooma.

People who don't pick up after their dogs give all dog owners a bad name. Most of the people I see out walking canine companions pick up after them but all it takes is for one not to and you have very messy parkways.

Btw, picking up after one's pooch IS THE LAW. We applaud photos of drug dealing law-breakers but it's ok if white guys break "lesser" laws? Please. It's all about quality of life. Shovel your snow, pick up your dog's poo, and don't deal drugs. Is that asking too much?

So it's justifiable for storefront to lurk (not participate) at neighborhood walks and give his skewed perceptions and sling his tirade of racist labels at people? More of the old 'do as I say but not as I do' mentality. But he does keep the BS transparency alive and kicking. Meanwhile, he preaches to his little choir about holding his perceived enemies accountable for their actions.

Wow, Mannis, you come off as a real asshole, you know that?

I was only going off what other people have said here about the state of the poop. And yes, why didn't you confront Westguard about cleaning up after himself - too much of a wussy?
