49th has left a new comment on your post - Handicapped Spaces Causes 911 Parking Problems:
"We have called the Alderman's office numerous times about this guy who rents a condo on that street. He owns 2 of the nicest cars on the block and continually plays the "car roulette" game of sliding one into the handicapped spot and driving the other.
For residents there, it is a waste of possibly 4-5 legit parking spots, which is absolute gold on that block, esp. in the summer with the beach parking. It's a joke.
They have done nothing. It is a joke to have 2 handicapped spots so close together on a street with limited parking esp. when they are SO BIG!
The other spot in question is used maybe once a month when the lady walks her groceries inside and doesn't use her garage! The guy can be seen every night calling the cops and they know exactly who he is and where he lives.
He has threatened several neighbors that park too close to his bumper. Tow trucks are there on a regular basis and this guy is very shady, actually was arrested one night. His landlord has been trying to get him removed for months with no avail.
The Alderman would do this block a big favor and investigate the owners of these permits because it is tiring doing the Rogers Park 500 around the block every night after 6 pm with these spots taunting you.
Blognotes: What timing. The Sun-Times covers this issue today.

You think 2 handicapped spots back-to-back is a joke... Take a look at the south side of Greenleaf immediately west of Sheridan. There are three handicapped spots back-to-back-to-back. It was bad enough when there was just one there.
There are also two or three more handicapped spots between Sheridan and Ashland.
Also on Greenleaf between Sheridan and the El, there is an old lady with a handicapped spot on the South side of the street who likes to park her car on the other side of the street, therefore leaving her handicapped space empty - taunting those of us who drive around looking for parking for at least 30 minutes each day!
These two handicapped spots are driving the entire block bonkers. Willie Nelson could park his bio-diesel tour bus in one of those spots if he had to. They are huge. I once spent over two hours looking for a spot in the neighborhood, all the while these two spaces were empty. It drives the whole block nuts when the driver waits for someone else to switch spots with him. Where is JOMO on this matter? I'll bet he is behind this whole mess. This is one helluva block to try and park on.
why can't they fix this issue on Pratt? a total slap in the face to all voters on this block. the signs are wrong, way too big, and abused by the owners. the guy is now parking his luxury car in between the spots to ensure that nobody can park there now too, wasting another open spot to the alley. this guy is a piece of work. he is monopolizing a space big enough for a firetruck and his other expensive car is taking up another spot all day long. 2 luxury cars and in danger of eviction from the owner of the condo for not paying rent in a very long time......very strange guy with some baggage. WE ARE ALL STILL WAITING ON YOU TO ACT JOMO.....
