Chicago Municipal Code 10-8-180
Every owner, lessee, tenant, occupant or other person having charge of any building or lot of ground in the city abutting upon any public way or public place shall remove the snow and ice from the sidewalk in front of such building or lot of ground.
If the sidewalk is of greater width than five feet, it shall not be necessary for such person to remove snow and ice from the same for a space wider than five feet.
In case the snow and ice on the sidewalk shall be frozen so hard that it cannot be removed without injury to the pavement, the person having charge of any building or lot of ground as aforesaid shall, within the time specified, cause the sidewalk abutting on the said premises to be strewn with ashes, sand, sawdust, or some similar suitable material, and shall, as soon thereafter as the weather shall permit, thoroughly clean said sidewalk.
The snow which falls or accumulates during the day (excepting Sundays) before four p.m. shall be removed within three hours after the same has fallen or accumulated. The snow which falls or accumulates on Sunday or after four p.m. and during the night on other days shall be removed before ten a.m.
Location of the Repeat Offender: Peter Sterniuk's recently torn down Crack House at 1309 West Lunt.
Even when there is no 'Crack House', this property is still a danger to the neighborhood. We might as well call this area the Rogers Park Ice Skating Strip. Sterniuk hasn't touched this snow since it fell three weeks ago. Now it's a one inch thick, sheet of ice.
Blognotes: Why doesn't this guy ever get ticketed and fined? Well, I'm guessing... because he's a friend of Joe.

Call 311, they don't like to deal with the drug dealers, but love to issue tickets for expired plates, parking violations.. and i'm sure ice on sidewalks.. as long as no drug dealers are over there. and there is a Duncan Donuts nearby.
Does anyone if there is actually a punishment/fine for snow removal negligence.
My understanding, though I may be wrong, is that there are no tickets/fines for snow/ice removal violations. The only "punishment" is that you are liable if someone were to get hurt because of your negligence.
Craig, you haven't cleaned the walk in front of your own condo. Go get your lazy ass out there and fix your own problems (like I did), before you go around accusing other people of this crap.
Yeah, Craig. And please stop by to clean up the dog crap in front of little wee wee's "office."
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!
Left on wee wee's blog in response to his latest incoherent ranting:
Tommy:
You admittedly do not own property. Have you given any thought to why you do not own property, particularly when you presumably had the ability to pay for law school and become a licensed Illinois attorney?
While it's clear you're a very good little worker with your snow shovel, it is also quite clear that suffer from an unhealthy obsession with past neighborhood elections.
Now I know this might sound kind of wacky, but have you given any thought to retiring your ways as an obsessed, bitter little fuck up and actually working for a living?
Who knows? Somebody might actually pay you. And if enough people pay you, you might have enough in your little piggy bank to purchase property. Then you could shovel your very own sidewalk.
What a concept!!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!

I'm guessing that's why his ex-wife Amy took the kid and split to live with her mother in Indiana.
That crazy little nut case actually went around to the private homes of all candidates from the last neighborhood election and took pictures of whether or not they shoveled their sidewalks! That kind of angry little obsession is beyond sad!
And the obsessed, bitter little fuck did all of this in response to your posting!!
I can hardly count the levels on which this guy redefines pitiful. He's completely oblivious to the finger pointing and laughing!
No wonder the guy's wife left him and he can't find steady employment!
Oh, and I just won $20 off a co-worker thanks to tommy. We bet on whether his next reply would be a long-winded, indignant diatribe or a short, nasty little "you're a bigger one!" response.
We both had a good laugh, and I won $20.
Thanks, tommy!

That's another one of my favorite things in life. Blog something, then watch Joe's brown nose buddies respond. I say jump - and they do it.
You know what's really interesting about citizen's rights and duties regarding snow removal, other than the fact that the sidewalk in front of Craig's building isn't clear, is that there are some opposite interpretations in different localities. Some places, if you don't shovel and someone slips, its considered an act of god and the property owner isn't negligible, but if they DO shovel and someone slips then it is their responsibility. Imagine that.
I meant to say negligent, not negligible and that may not even be right, anybody know what I'm talking about? Anybody heard about that?
Vannessa, please, call Joe, and have him punish my management company. I pay good money in assessments for them to do a duty like snow removal. It's our own little SSA, sort of speak. If they're not performing, they should be held accountable.
Oh, if it really bothers you, call our board member Terry Feingold at 773-764-2032. It's his duty to stay on top of these things. That's what he got elected to do.
Repeat offender - well you lie constantly, you are a repeat offender, shithead
And Rogers shut that thing you call a mouth - stuff it with craig's cock, then maybe both of you will get what you need!
Oh, little fella, momma let you play on the computer again.
Hmmm...our little girl natass must have either had class tonight where she has computer access, blown enough old men to buy some time at Kinko's or talked mommy into going out to buy him more comic books so she can get online.
Either way, it's so nice to see our little girl out and about.
Oh, and Natass? I'm told someone knows who you are. Oh, won't this be fun to watch.
Craig,
an even bigger offender of snow removal is the building at the end of the block on the south west corner of lunt and sheridan. I have been tempted to rent a pair of ice skates to get pas that building. But of course, that building has has a broken gate on their parking lot since i moved into the community. They probably dont want to block out the drug dealers under there during the warmer months of the year
