The Chicago Math and Science School at 1709 West Lunt has requested extra police protection today from the students who attend Sullivan High School. Seems the Sullivan students who I've reported here too numerous times to link up,
are harassing the Chicago Math and Science students as they cross paths on the way home from school.

Dispersing 4 for gang loitering at 1406 West Morse.
11202 is the code/15:24 on the clock.
Wow that still goes on. These punks are only proving that they are dumb.
5:03 PM: 2431 was called to disperse 4 on Morse.
#2485 radioed he was taking over and "shagged " 4 in front of 1418 West Morse.
There you have it. Instead of dispersing them - they're now shagging them.
You make false statements and huge assumptions in your story.
First, Chicago Math and Science Academy is not a magnet school. It is a charter school which is under CPS and students are selected by random lottery.
Second, Sullivan students are smart too. Sullivan has a medical college prep program for instance, with lots of hard working and bright young adults.
Just because some students are harassing others doesn't mean all are. CMSA bad apples might be harassing the Sullivan smarties too, but you weren't around to see it.

Thanks for the correction. Duly noted.

With a poor 57.6% graduation rate, I disagree.
With 16.5% of the students dropping-out, I disagree.
As for the CMSA bad-apples, tell it to the police.
Ok, but out of the 42% of students that do graduate from Sullivan, some of them go there to learn. Some of them are honors students. I'm not saying that the students harassing others are smart, they probably aren't. All I am saying is that just because Sullivan isn't a top school does not mean that all students that go there are not smart. It's just logic really.
Of course there are some good kids at Sullivan. I feel sorry that they have to co-exist with thugs and try and learn in that environment.
These bad kids should look around Morse Avenue and see what the future holds for them- not much if they don't apply themselves. The world is only getting more competitive. Lord knows what will become of them.
In england I know what shagging means, what does it mean in america?
I'm not sure if posting this will be a waste of my time, but it seems like a lot of residents read this, so hopefully this won't fall upon deaf (or non-existent) ears.
Every time a student moves during the school year, it counts as a "drop-out" and as a person that does not graduate from a particular school. Sullivan, being in a neighborhood with many families that move frequently, is probably the most negatively affected school in the city, if not the state, by this biased and incorrect means of collecting data. So, to make claims about the intelligence of Sullivan's students based on graduation and drop-out statistics is misleading and irresposible. Sullivan was in the top third of CPS schools in terms of ACT and PSAE scores (most of the schools in the top third are selective enrollment schools like Lane Tech and Whitney Young). Their average ACT score was higher than Senn, Amundsen, Schurz, Steinmetz, and just under those of Mather and Lake View. The school's percentage of low-income students is 90.4%. 12.2% have limited English proficiency. I think those numbers tell a little bit more of the story.
Are there "bad kids" that go to Sullivan? Of course - they go to every school in the city (except maybe for the ones that get to hand select their own). But - all I ever read about on this site are the negative things being done by young people that live in the neighborhood - some (probably many) of which do not attend Sullivan. I never read about any of the programs, athletic teams, or groups from the school. Sullivan's soccer team was runner-up in the Chicago Cup; their mock trial team and academic decathalon team bring home medals and trophies every year. However, I've never read about things like that on this site.
Does the school promote itself in a positive light as they should? No. But it doesn't seem like many people outside of the building are making much of an effort to find out about these types of things.
It doesn't seem like people really want to help make things at the school better. It's like the school is detached from the rest of the neighborhood; the worst part of it is that it doesn't seem like anybody wants to help bring it back in.
Reminds me of when I was attending Whitney Young, and we were regularly harassed by the students who attended nearby Crain High School.
