Joe Moore's City Council Update

The latest edition of Moore's monthly newsletter to constituents, each month documenting his gross incompetence. Legislative powerhouse and Dean of the Progressive Caucus Joe Moore is at it again, pushing through cogent legislation on the important issues of the day:

A section of Touhy Avenue east of Ashland is to be renamed

"His Holiness Mar Dinkha IV Boulevard."

This blockbuster reform measure was introduced by Moore on 6/13/2007.

Unfortunately, 17-year Council veteran Moore dropped the ball on this routine legislation, forcing St. George's parishioners to install an entirely unofficial but official-looking temporary sign during His Holiness' visit to the 49th Ward last summer ("Cuz They’ve Got the Dough," The 'Broken Heart' of Rogers Park, July 15, 2007).

A day late and a dollar short - Moore's key legislative initiative finally passed committee on Monday, May 12, 2008, and is scheduled to be passed by a Council full of Moore's rubber stamp colleagues this Wednesday, May14, 2008 ("Sajak gets own street," FRAN SPIELMAN, Chicago Sun-Times City Hall Reporter, May 13, 2008).

Joe Moore for Congress - meaningless gestures 11 months late!

Why this renaming of streets? What is the purpose of this? The better to confuse people trying to find an address?

Will the old name of Touhy still be the principal street name, with the new name just sort of juxtaposed?

Do our aldermen have any better thing to do than this, in a time in which the city is facing a financial crisis, that is due mostly to their insane misallocations of money, and theft by TIF districts?

You are weeks behind. I saw the real City of Chicago sign up on a city pole last week. Looks like Joe jumped the gun nad had the sign put up early.

Yeah, we're all behind, because we have more important things to do and think about than stuff like this.

Damn most idiotic, nonsensical thing.

===="Honorary street designations are a Chicago tradition and a way for aldermen to curry favor with clout-heavy constituents. They were not about to give it up."

Gee, even a dummy like Mo Cahill could've figured that out.

Well,Craig, we all know it's to 'curry favor'- we just want to know how our aldercreatures JUSTIFY spending time and money on crap like this.

But, then, these people clearly don't feel accountable to us in anyway, and don't feel they need to justify themselves or anything they do, to us.

And why would they, when we have shown them, in one election after the other, that they aren't really taking a big risk with their jobs by diverting our money to megabucks contributors and corporate interests, seizing our property, driving us out of our homes with death duty taxes, and turning our neighborhoods into crime pits. We've put up with it this long and keep voting the same scumbags back into office, so why won't we continue to put up with it?

Now here's two streets I'd think twice about crossing.

His Holiness Mar Dinkha & Hot Mix 5.

This is right up there with Joe making sure the Chicago City Council opposes any war against Iran.

That's our boy. Always the first to offer up pointless legislation while the drug dealers run his ward.

Fucking loser.
