* DevCorp North Street Tax Boss Calls Police on Blogger

DevCorp North is to 49th Ward Alderman Joe Moore, roughly, what Haliburton is to President George W. Bush. They work very closely. They have a black budget. They do secret things that they don't want known. DevCorp's budget is a mystery to most people, and they are notorious for being reluctant to share information about the way they use their public monies and why they have so badly failed in their stated mission to help improve the business climate of Rogers Park. Piss off DevCorp and you piss off Alderman Moore. If the alderman is pissed off at you, you run the risk of abusive inspections, denial of licenses and permits, and other means of harassment.

PART TWO: SHUTTING OUT THE MEDIA!

Wow. I've always enjoyed Tom's blog, but this time I think he's just embarrassed himself.

This just might be the most pointless report I've ever witnessed. It's like watching two petty kids trying to argue impressively, each making dramatic accusations about the other in hopes of making the whole situation somehow important.

Seriously, this is just embarrassing for everyone involved.

I'm sorry that Tom and Morseland had whatever beef occurred between them, but this is just silly. Couldn't he just send them a pizza or TP their front yard instead?

I wonder what law Tom was breaking, exactly? It was a public street and the photographer wasn't detaining him in any way. Are there laws against paparazzi in Chicago?

- PEACE -

I don't mean to get very far into this debate, if that's what we're calling it, but don't I recall Tom getting upset when someone from DevCorp or the alderman's office took his photo at some meeting?

Didn't Tom describe that repeatedly as an attempt to intimidate him? Doesn't that suggest Tom was doing the same thing? At the very least, he was clearly bothering the guy. It might have been different if the DevCorp guy was in his office or something, but the guy was at a restaurant for crying out loud.

I'm not looking to start an argument, but it honestly seems like Tom is just angry about being called out by the Morseland guys for disturbing their bar patrons.

To tell the truth, if I were in a restaurant and somebody started taking my picture, I wouldn't be too pleased about it either.

Yeah this obsessive picture taking is an attempt at intimidation, regardless of it's the Bench dude taking picture of the Dev Corp folks, the Dev Corp folks taking pictures of the Bench dude, what's his face taking picture of that other blogger, or Craig taking pictures of children.

Blogging is a powerful form of media. Let's try not to abuse it.

At the risk of miring myself in something I do not want to be involved in... In this case it doesn't look like Tom was the one "snapping" as Been There insinuates. I wasn't there (thank God because I like both Rene and Tom Mannis), but it sounds like Tom was in control of himself.

I hope everyone reading about this incident and other coverage on local blogs can see the politics and personal grievances flying on all sides.

I do feel the need to say that many of Tom Mannis and Craig's worst critics are suspect. Trust me when I say they are not just "one of your neighbors." They have agendas and grudges just as much as Craig and Tom. But the difference is that Craig & Tom's grudges are pretty clear for the world to see.

Craig-and-Tom-detractors act all outraged and accuse the bloggers of being crazy, child molesters, cross-dressers, etc... What kind of substantive argument is that? They will have to do better to convince the intelligent among us.

It's too bad that this whole blogger situation wasn't handled differently. It could have been and someday when we have a new alderman, I hope that he or she is smart enough to figure out a better way. I takes two after all.

I realize there is negativity on blogs, but I still think alot of valuable information is shared and it's not whitewashed or vanilla-ized. And I don't like everything I read either, but read it I do.

Embarrassed my self, no way - I am just showing you how much I can actually get away with - some day, one of these people in power is going to do something stupid, and I'll be the one to tell you I told you so,

Slut!

I'll take pictures of who I want when I want, and there is not a damn thing you can do about it, if you have a problem, pick up a phone book, call your local affirmative action office and tell some one who actually gives a damn!!!

Yeah. That's not embarrassing yourself either.

YCF, ROUNDEYE - I have one thing to say to the both of you
KISS MY ASS - I'm right you are wrong and will always be wrong!

And Jocelyn, I am a cross dresser, so the accusations are true when it comes to my gender of choice

For the record:
The comment above that seems to be from me is NOT from me. It's the one that begins with "Embarrassed my self, no way..." Craig Gernhardt, the asshole who runs this crappy blog, knows damned well that it's not me. Click on the fake "Tom Mannis" and you'll see that he/she has no profile. So, a big "fuck you" to Craig Gernhardt, the least credible blogger in Chicago.

yeah, that's something we should all stand up and cheer, cat fights between the liars. this could be a lot of fun to watch.
