THANK YOU, David Herro!

Wednesday night was one of those times when you remember what's great about living in the Great City of Chicago. It's really hard to be as angry as you should be at the powers that be when you're sitting in the Pritzker Pavilion with a few thousand of your neighbors on a hot, still summer night, enjoying a wonderful program. Who'd a-thunk dance had so many fans? It was a record turn-out in Millennium Park. When you put Muntu, Lar Lubovitch, Ballet Tech, the Joffrey, Hubbard, American Ballet Theater, Battleworks, and Evidence on the same blockbuster program, all their various followings show up and enjoy the others. (Don't worry, regular readers, we're not initiating fine arts coverage here on the Morse Hell Hole, but perhaps a little yin to the yang of dirt bike racing wouldn't hurt anybody ;-) ).

Perusing the program notes, we couldn't help noticing that the evening was FREE thanks in large part to a generous donation from Chicagoan David Herro of the Oakmark International fund. So, thank you, Mr. Herro! A marvellous, special evening was had by all.

While we're at it, it is long over due that we on these pages publicly thank Mr. Herro for his courageous efforts to oust an oppressive regime and bring democracy to the 49th Ward of Chicago.

We also need to publicly apologize to Mr. Herro for the horrible slander inflicted on his good name by sometime Rogers Park resident and, unfortunately, Alderman, Joe Moore. Mr. Herro, please understand, Moore doesn't represent us. We in Rogers Park find we have to apologize for him a lot.

While, between elections, Don Gordon's supporters are advancing the performing arts, in our City and in our neighborhood, Moore's contributors are razing buidings and leaving holes in the ground in the wake of their mortgage fraud. This Sunday, Moore will sponsor his own dance festival, of sorts, in Loyola Park. Know them by their deeds, folks!

Mr. Herro, we sincerely hope you will continue to stay engaged with the City of Chicago, and Rogers Park.

Thank you!

david herro doesn't give one wit about democracy in the 49th ward. he cares about walmart. and he wanted to stick it to the man who stood up to walmart. period.
so, is he an investor in this year's version of the swiftboat slime machine?
and don't you like to slime people with guilt by association?

the assault continues

yeah, sure, when developers give to Moore it's because they love his ass but Herro has ulterior motives for giving to Gordon

when a guy slimes a presidential candidate, pays someone to say that a guy who won a silver star was really a coward, and helps to reinstall the biggest criminal every to squat in the white house, i don't let go of that too easily.
sorry that i take being a citizen seriously, and will never quite feel like my hands are clean because maybe i could have done something else that would have tipped the balance.
too bad david herro does not feel the same. or maybe he does, and this little event was one more ritual handwashing for him.

so Herro's support of Gordon was pay-to-play, he was hoping to help defeat a little old law that he thought would put an undo burden on WalMart, the world's largest corporation?

wow!

if so he is one awful investor, it's hard to understand why anyone would trust him with $3.8B
