Town Hall Questions

At 6 foot - 4 inches tall Larry Suffredin was no-where to be seen for this town hall meeting on Public Safety. Isn't he too an elected official in our district?

Blognotes: Stop back though-out the day as I add questions that should be asked at tonight's meeting. Feel free to leave your questions in the comments section.

Question #1: Year to date. How many gang dispersal's were there (<-grammatical correction) in the 24th district?

Question #2: Year to date. How many drug dispersal's were there (<-grammatical correction) in the 24th district?

Blognotes: Depending on which side of the coin you're on, to have this information would give the community a chance to see how many times the police either got outfoxed by the wrong-doers, or stopped a group of people for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. (For the record, I've had 2 contact cards written up on me in the last 4 years.) A 'contact card' is basically a information card the police write up about you. Like what gang you run with. Any tattoos or markings. Drug of choice. Things like that.

And to say the police don't keep track would be hog-wash. I hear them give out locations and event numbers. I know the police won't tell us where these corners and locations are for privacy reasons. I won't even bother asking them to tell the public where these spots are at.

Question #3: Why does Sergeant Baranowski have a bug up his ass?

Question #4: How's the investigation going in regards to the 4 murders in Rogers Park this year?

Question #5: Have the police caught the paint-ball gun shooters yet?

Question #6 How many 911 calls have been for shots fired in the 24th district this year?

Question #7: Has the Morse Theatre Arsonist been captured yet?

Question #8: What measures are being taken to reduce the violence coming from the Sullivan High School students upon leaving the school grounds?

Question #9: Why are the police riding around '99' all day and night?

Question #10: Why aren't the Police Pods monitored 24/7 like we were told they would be when they were installed?

What other blogs are saying.
If it's anything like the two Town Hall Meetings in Uptown earlier this year, tonight's Town Hall in Rogers Park will be just as worthless. The two meetings in Uptown were in response to some particularly spectacular shootings in broad daylight. Chicago’s 49th Ward is the site of tonight’s “Town Hall Meeting on Public Safety in Rogers Park.” If recent history is any guide, the meeting will involve a lot of posturing by politicians, ranting by local residents, and procrastination by the police at tonight’s meeting. It will be held at the United Church of Rogers Park, 1545 W. Morse (at N. Ashland). There, you will be presented with the spectacle of elected officials pretending they care about crime and that they know their heads from their asses. Source.
Update - 10:00 PM: The meeting concluded at 9:30ish. 75 people attended, including at least a dozen from the 'Alderman's Political Support' team. You know, the one's that get up and cheer Joe for doing such a great job fighting crime. Avid Mr. Brokenheart readers like Dave Fagus, Wayne Frasier, Kevin O'Neil, Jim Ginderske and Jayne Hoffman, to name a few.

In contrast: At 10 o'clock, 1427 unique visitors read this site, viewing over 3600 pages. A little over 600 of you readers returned more than once today.

Conclusion:More people like reading bad grammar and poorly spelled words on the 'Broken Heart' than they do attending community meetings with a bunch of lying politicians.

How can we as a community apply for faith based initiatives?

What assistance can Rabbis, clergy, pastors get from any of our elected officials to receive funding?

So far I have seen a reactive response not a proactive thought process to our current youth dilemma.

"There", not "their", as in "how many gang dispersals were there in..."

IMHO taxpayer funds should not be dispersed to religious groups and/or organizations for any purpose. If individuals want to provide their own $$'s to support 'faith based' initiatives or organizations, that's their choice but government has no business supplying tax $$'s.

You've had TWO contact cards on you? So what gang are you in?

The terrible spelling and grammar gang.

What exactly do they do with these contact cards?

OT-Craig, a bunch of people are trying to get me to run for alderperson of the 50th...

Unless you've got at least $200,000 and 150 people willing to volunteer a month before - and on election day, don't bother.

Plus, Ilana Feketitsch, Naisy Dolar, Greg Brewer and Salman Aftab all have a leg up in you. Although I think right now you could take down Aftab if he doesn't have a knife.

Oh, I know them. They did a drive-buy the other day...

I definately don't have $200,000!

Tom Mannis and I are on the opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to politics, however, I would bet anything that his take on the 'Town Hall' meeting tonight hits the 'nail on the head'! I chose not to attend tonight's gathering, having heard the spin, PR and BS for years, at meeting after meeting, from the various 24th District Commanders and our local politicians. I'll look forward to the upcoming reports by those who attended.

Joe had at least 4 room plants (we'll call them Moore Stoogies) asking the most ridiculous questions or making wild suggestions. Take Jayne Hoffman, a CAPS facilitator.

She claims if we recycle our trash, crime will go down. She went on and on for at least 5 minutes with this garbage.

This explains why more people don't attend CAPS meetings in beat 2431.

Agreed.

mcl. Thanks. I will try to update it more often.
