Alderman warns State Rep. write-in candidate

Illegally placed campaign signs has candidate in hot water
Alderman Joe Moore (D-49) has issued 14th district State Representative write-in candidate, Paul Minervino, a stern warning for placing multiple campaign signs on the public way in Rogers Park. And I'm pissed because Joe beat me to it.
Mr. Minervino,

Please remove your numerous signs from the city parkways. It is illegal to post signs on the public way without a permit (see Municipal Code of Chicago, Chapter 10-8, Use of Public Ways and Spaces, 10-8-320, Posting bills).
My ward superintendent, Greg Wagner, is incredibly busy and should be devoting his time to servicing the ward rather than removing your illegal signs. You should know that you are leaving yourself open to a hefty fine ($200 to $1,000 per sign) if you fail to remove them.
Greg has been pretty lenient with you so far (in part because he is recovering from back surgery), but this weekend the number of your illegal signs has exploded exponentially. In short, it's getting ridiculous. Greg doesn't issue tickets unless the owner of the signs fails to remove them after being warned. Consider this your first warning.
BLOGNOTES: Being a rookie at this running for public office and all, we'll have to wait and see if Mr. Paul Minervino, write-in candidate for the 14th district State Representative of the state of Illinois, will follow the rules and regulations of political campaigning - not to mention a harsh and firm warning by the Alderman of the 49th Ward. Will Mr. Minervino remove them on his own accord, or will he be fined by the City of Chicago for violating code 10-8-320?

For the record, doesn't matter if its Democrat or Republican, I've covered all sides of this issue.

Have you seen what his signs are attached to, Craig? Another politicians old campaign sign. At least he's recycling.

Cheap GOP'r can't afford his own sign material. Yeah, I noticed that too. He has more signs than he'll get votes.

Brilliant reporting, Craig. This is the sort of cutting edge stuff you just don't see on Everyblock. Good lord! A campaign sign! Oh, the humanity!

If Cassidy is raising taxes I will be voting for Paul. We pay high enough taxes all ready.

I can give a shit about his signs and where they are placed.... I'll vote for him just to keep my property taxes from increasing.

IAnon's 12:25 and 12:57: I highly doubt Kelly has the singular ability to raise your property taxes. Stop drinking the kool-aid Paul is serving with his illegally placed campaign signs.

Craig, Why's this guy a write-in candidate in the first place? Why isn't he on the ballot like other candidates?

you fools...just google paul minervino....he is a REPUBLICAN!!!. of course joe moron is going to threaten him. he wants to slow down the liberals' tax and spend addiction.

I'm glad to see you aren't just going after the republican candidate at the whim of Obama. Your Joe Moore, David Fagus and Heather Steans illegal campaign poster stories are very enlightening on how things are done around this neck of Chicago. This reinforces why I moved to Fox Lake Beach in 2010.
ps. My boat docking fee is $100's less a year also.

To everyone commenting on property taxes- that is a county issue! Cassidy has no say in it!

Paul on Everyblock said himself he doesn't even know Kelly's position on property taxes...

There is not a single thing she has done or could do that would increase property taxes...

THANK YOU FOR THIS BLOG ENTRY. Without it I would not have known the name Paul Minervino or that he is running as a Republican. This information enabled me to WRITE IN his name on the ballot when I voted today. THANKS AGAIN.
