Rogers Park teen charged with attempted murder

(Oct. 15, 2012/Rogers Park) - Kids like this can give even the best charter school students a bad rap. Ex Chicago Math & Science Academy attendee, Jansen Aikens, of the 1300 block of West Chase, was charged as an adult by Cook County prosecutors with two counts of attempted first-degree murder and  aggravated discharge of a firearm; when Jansen Aikens allegedly fired five shots at Chicago Police in the Uptown neighborhood.

Aikens was born January 5, 1995. According to Cook County prosecutors, Aiken is a self-admitted gang-banger. According to his own Facebook page, Jansen proudly represented the P-Stone Nation. According to Chicago Math and Science Academy website, Jansen Aikens was a member of the schools basketball team as a freshman in 2009/10, as the team went 4 & 12, and was ranked 698th in the state.

BLOGNOTES: Aikens was ordered held in lieu of $1 million dollars bail at 26th and California. Visitation for Jansen Aikens is on Sunday's from 8 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. You must be at least 17 years old to visit Jansen, unless accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Honestly I'm not surprised by this. He was kicked out of cmsa for having a knife tucked into his waistband. It was only a matter of time.
