Resident forms on-petition to stop Burger King

An on-line petition started by Steve Hueffner, wants to keep Burger King from opening up a restaurant at 7513 North Clark. Currently this is a vacant patch of land, located in the Gateway Mall.

Hueffner cites that the potential new fast-food restaurant will disrupt traffic, add to congestion and reduce safety for bicycles and pedestrians. Yet Hueffner doesn't have any facts to back of these claims.

Alderman Joe Moore sent out a letter December 12, 2012, in accordance required by the Chicago Zoning Ordnance 17-13-0107 for a one-story restaurant with a drive-thru at 7513-23 North Clark, which Cave Enterprises Operations LLC, is the operations name. Dominick's, the main anchor  at Gateway Mall, had to sign-off on the deal, which, according to Alderman Moore's and his ZULAC committee, have done.

Alderman Moore said the new restaurant won't need a curb-cut as the drive-thru won't exit to the street, instead using the already existing exits in the Gateway Mall. Cave Enterprises is not asking for a zoning change. Moore will be holding a community meeting sometime in January 2013. But the Everyblock net-community, sitting at home in front of their computer - chowing down on their Banquet Salisbury Steak TV dinner's - have already made up their minds.

As of November 2012, Cave Enterprises LLC, nor SEC Clark and Howard have made political donations to the Citizens for Joe Moore.

BLOGNOTES: Clearly this neighborhood and its residents don't like restaurants, as many are struggling to survive due to lack of business - or closing their doors altogether. MorseL is struggling to get people in their seats. Katy Hogan admitted the Heartland Cafe business is in the dumps. Chuckie's can't get anyone to visit during their recently expanded breakfast menu. Pillar's is said to be closing shop. Morseland closed. Aqua can barely keep the lights on. Recently a couple of restaurants in the 7100 block of North Clark have closed.

If these residents don't like Burger King, they should do to Burger King what they do to the other restaurants in the neighborhood. Don't eat there. It's as simple as that. Then Mr. Hueffner and the rest of the anti-restaurant neighbors in Rogers Park won't have to worry about heavy traffic flow.

Love me some BK breakfast! You are absolutely correct Craig. If you don't like it, don't eat there. Bunch of posers.

True dont eat there if you dont want to, just dont complain about any gangbanging there or gunshots etc either.

The argument about Buger King bringing crime into the neighborhood is another disingenuous statement by the petitioner, those Everyblock nuts and yourself.

Do you have any facts to prove this new Burger King will generate a new crime wave in Rogers Park? Damn, Jeff-O, if you're so good at seeing into the future, you should open up an Astrology Store in one of the vacant units on Howard.

If that's the case they need to close down the Howard 'L'. Right now on the scanner neighbors called 911 for a gang knife fight at the Howard red-line. Police have asked for an ambulance and they're taking in a couple offenders.

Golly gosh guys this sounds like a good story. Can I scoop you on it? My editor would love it and I would credit you with breaking the news. Trust me. Gang banging, knife fights and junk food sells readership.

A Burger King is a great addition to Gateway.
And to those who think BK brings crime into an area, most give cops half price meals & some give totally free meals to them, just to avoid that problem.

Son of a bitch. My Dark Lord Brother in the 49th Ward finally found the balls to tell that little Jeff-O to shut the fuck up. I was wondering how long it would take you to stand up to him. You being such a wuss made me sick watching you fart around like a big pussy. Now get rid of that Benji and the Hellhole will be all yours. You don't need those other parasites. All they want is sharing in your fame. Man up Gernhardt and take control or I will take over your blog followers.

I totally wish there was a vegan fast food option going in there.

Craig let's call a truce. I am pragmatic. We are both reporters and journalists. Jeff-O is getting in the way of us working together. Here's the deal. We split news scoops 50:50. Some for you and some for me. If you don't agree I will beat you down because I have corporate backing but I don't want to do that. Yes or no?

@Isadora: Just ask for a veggie Whopper. They'll fill it up with only veggies.

We get it, Craig. You hate Rogers Park. Maybe you should go back to selling ad space to gay prostitutes. Oh. Wait. You fucked that up, too.

Benji said...

Is that true about the gay prostitutes? When did that happen? Did he actually pimp them out or just have sex with them? This Hellhole gets more and more interesting.

I think it is a huge insult that Alderman Moore sent out a letter to the community regarding possible objections due to potential traffic congestion which a proposed fast food franchise in a commercial zoned district while he failed to give public notification as required by law and illegally rubber stamped the MorseL's liquor license as an incidental license rather than the cabaret or tavern license in order to circumvent the Chicago Liquor License process, and avoid potential objections to parking dillemmas which this business presents for a 49th Ward political insider. It is itme for a new Alderman in this Ward.

BTW Craig,How did you get that picture accomanying this story of Alderman Moore ordering lunch at a local BK, and where are his staff members Wizzo Land and Oliver Ole Oliver Frazier? As far as I am concerned they are a bunch of corrupt clowns.

This is an urban myth. Fastfood joints and most others do not give free food to cops. 10 percent off at a few places is about it.
