Attempted midnight mugging

Around 12:03 a.m. on January 16, 2013, a male black who was described as about 6 foot 2 inches tall and wearing white Adidas gym shoes attempted to rob a female in the 1500 block of West Greenleaf. A Good Samaritan interrupted the alleged mugging to save the day.

The victim and Good Samaritan first told police the offender fled south on Glenwood, but later said the offender fled east on Lunt. The victim reported her keys were missing. A canvas of the area turned up nothing.

The Good Samaritan immediately ran to Everyblock to tell his net-neighbors of his good deed without offering a description of the offender or what direction he fled.

Well I must say the accounting is a bit odd. In that someone decided to run after a criminal at night, especially if its only a robbery and no assault had taken place.

Its a judgement call, ofcourse. We dont want robbers to feel to comfortable here and we also don't want to put ourselves in harms way over material possessions.

If its "woofie" points he is looking for he's got it. 76 thanks, a record so far for Rogers Park EB.

Don't know about woofie?

Read Down and Out in Disneyland
by Cory Doctorow.

One of the best science fiction books in recent times.

The guy was obviously "pumped" afterwards and the adrenaline still running when he wrote the post.

Things could've ended badly as well.
Glad everyone is okay.

In real life, you're not Batman, you're more like Kick-ass, I kind of hope this jackass gets his ass handed to him next time.
