Something is Missing

Reader submitted: Let's see how well you know Rogers Park.

Things seem to be going from bad to worse in Rogers Park. Something serious is missing. What's missing? And why?

Is it the municipal parking lot at Ashland and Morse? A friend told me the sign was down after I told a contract to park there the other day.

Hum. I wonder why no one wants to talk about this?

What you hiding DevCorp?

Who has the scoop on this?

Guys, They are probably re-doing the signs to raise the rates.
Why the worry that "something is up"?

Craig Gernhardt said...

Either that or someone found another misspelled word?

I live here too, I find your comment to be just plain stupid. How do you raise rates at a free parking lot?

Craig Gernhardt said...

A Special Service Area Tax funded free parking lot no less.

At first blush it looked like the corner of Ashland&Morse.

Nice to get subsidized free parking, for car owners. I'd rather see a nice 4-story multi-use building with nice apartments or condos up, and retail on the first floor- a building that would help ground the street a little.

But in this glutted market and collapsing economy, that's not bloody likely.

I guess I'm just plain stupid then. Not knowing it is a free lot and all. Thank you for your friendly response.
If they now start to charge, would I be less stupid?

Oh my God!!!!

A sign is missing!

Oh my god. Parking spots that were promised to the community are missing.

word is that "tricks" were being turned there. never a dull moment in RP

Oh my god! In a church parking lot?

hence the sign being gone as well as your ability to park there.

I wonder if the person that took the sign is the same person that took the trash cans from the Howard/Rogers/Greenview intersection? Two trash cans are gone, but the genius that removed them left a 3 inch screw in the cement sticking up for someone to trip over.

I guess the trash cans were removed because they were being used. I forgot the alderman doesn't like people to fill up the trash cans.

Stay tuned. I'll be featuring this story too. Another one of Joe Moore's failures as this term as Alderman.

Another killa post, Craig. Yep, that DevCorp parking lot that would make it easier to shop on Morse Avenue where, as Kimmie Bares said on a soapbox, we finally have all the good and services we want! Oh - about that promised shuttle bus to help people get to and from The Morse Theatre????

I will be interested in the trash cans information - I have emailed the alderman's office several times about putting trash cans out - at least a few people might use them. Their response was they get full and people use them for their own dumpster. I have seen people put their personal trash in them, which is absolutely ridiculous and lazy but.......we still need trash cans.

random question for you all (you seem like the right folks to ask): how would I go about getting recycling at my building?

Can you believe this? Instead of addressing this issue, they post an ad for another office paper pusher.

Call your buildings waste disposal company. They will tell you how they handle recycling. That's what we did at our condo building. We save about $300 per year.

Parking lot is of course Ashland/Morse intersection by the church. The building south of it is 6912 N. Ashland.

No idea why the parking lot was closed... but the 'tricks' in the parking lot don't sound unreal. Rampant prostitution takes place all along Morse, some of which originates in 6912 Ashland. We've seen the 'deals' happening in this building over and over again. Calls/emails to Joe and Ann? "We'll look into it right away!"

In the meantime I'm tired of finding used condoms on my front lawn.

Same emails I get from the alderman's office - "we will look into it right away" "crime is down" "passing your email to the Alderman" - never do I hear a thing back!
