* Morse Avenue Now Called "Chairman Fred Hampton Blvd?"

I noticed the sign at Morse Avenue and Ashland. I couldn't believe my eyes. Did our Alderman Moore have a change of heart? Did Alderman Moore authorize this sign-age? Did Alderman Moore have a vote with his top secret Morse Avenue Streetscape Committee (MASC)? Instead of spending 3 plus million Alderman Moore doesn't have on fancy planters and lighting, Alderman Moore and his MASC decided to put a sticker up calling the street Chairman Fred Hampton Blvd.? I didn't get the press release.

The sticker has been up for a week. It's located right near the Howard Area Community Center "Killing Zone." Very near to the spot Wayne Jones was murdered. How symbolic huh? I didn't get invited to the Chairman Fred Hampton Blvd. Ribbon cutting ceremony.

Or could this be Alderman Moore's new Morse Avenue Streetscape he promised us last year? After all, he must know this sign is here? Alderman Moore has his army of food stamp to work - DevCorp janitors wandering around this street everyday. When it comes to a Broken Heart of Rogers Park - Hell Hole poster or an opponents campaign sign, the Alderman has that sign-age removed ASAP.

Plus, if you have heard the Alderman's endless speeches like I have, you've heard the line, "I know the ward like the back of my hand!" So Alderman Moore has to know the sign is here, right? I saw nothing on his website.

Update: A source close to the scene said a yellow reflective vested wearing person removed Chairman Fred Hampton Blvd. sign this morning around 11 am CST. Case closed.

Hasn't Fred Hampton sufferred enough? Why should his name be stuck on a street sign in the middle of a ward that is as screwed-up as the 49th Ward under Joe Moore?

If signs are outlawed...only outlaws will have signs.
