* Gordon's First Mailer

"Progress is Possible!"

While my mailbox has seen two Alderman Moore mailers already - I had yet to see another mailer from any other candidate. That's until this week.

Don Gordon has hit my mailbox.

First out of the box to challenge Moore on mailers, Gordon has put together a enlarged postcard size design, with the slogan:

"Progress is Possible!"

One side of the mailer touts the Lakefront Protection Referendum victory in November 2006 and his 25 year record for working with neighbors to help solve key issues in our ward.

It says, "I {he} pledges to always listen, be responsive, and involve you as I {he} work on new solutions to improve the quality of life in Rogers Park."

The other side has pin-point catch phrases, contacts to volunteer, a pre-sorted postage stamp and the all important union bug.

There you have it, the first non-incumbent mailer.

Blognotes: Lesson to the other candidates: - If you don't start matching Alderman Moore 'mailer for mailer' - you're going to lose. These personally crafted campaign mailers get into places 'door to door' canvassing can't reach.

Alderman Moore is trying to buy the election and the other candidates better have funds to match him. There's no other way a candidate is going to win without big bucks and fancy mailers.

Padding it on: With this weeks endorsements by the Illinois Committee for Honest Government and Jake CP - Gordon pulls way ahead of the other two candidates in the 'Broken Heart' - Power Rankings.

So, who's next? Which candidates going to have the next campaign mailer? No candidate is going to win the election because of these forums. The candidates better start filling our mailboxes with their own propaganda - oops, I mean campaign message, or they don't stand a chance against Alderman Moore. He's just begun.

The 'Broken Heart' - 49th Ward Power Rankings
- (January 2007)

1) Joe Moore - Using unethical behavior still has his team somehow on top. His campaign contributions and free television time on 'silly issues' continues to grow, as his popularity sinks.

2) Don Gordon - Taking the high road and picking up endorsements along the way. Plus, he's the only candidate to send a 'thank you' note to the 'Broken Heart' for catching a live one.

3) Chris Adams - Working hard on neighborhood 'Meet and Greet's'. Plus the unknown campaign funds available make Chris 'Staying Under the Radar' Adams the one to watch for in February 2007.

4) Jim Ginderske - Using unethical behavior and the fact Ginderske told the 'Broken Heart' he, "doesn't have Joe money," puts this troubled campaign at the bottom of the heap.

I don't think Joe has 50%, either.

He really did the other candidates a big favor with the negative publicity he generated for himself with his idiotic initiatives and resolutions.

He's gotten people to look at the other candidates. He's given them publicity they didn't have the money to buy.

Please folks, let's not forget covering for his pal Jay Johnson's buildings. Events like the Marshfield fire, handing out smoke detectors hours after 6 kids died there, and removing the ZONING MINUTES from the 49th website give one the appearance there's plenty to hide. Who sits on the Zoning Board making decisions? Jay Johnson for one.

The voters need to blow the smoke out of their faces.

Too bad there had to be a tragic fire to generate bad publicity for Joe.

However, from talking to homeowners and othe long-time residents near me, he got off easy on this one, because many people simply did not witness his performance after that fire, and they really have NO IDEA that he has such a close relationship with Jay Johnson.

In fact, months after that fire, many people are really surprised and give me that 'are you sure?' look when I remind them of it.

It's strange and sad that the fois gras thing has generated more publicity, but the fact is he in now known outside the U.S. for his 'poineering' legislation, but not for his cozy relationships with slumlords.

The West Coast celebs singing his praises for the fois gras ordinance don't know about his relationship with people like Jay Johnson, and they sure as hell don't care. They are living in $40 MM coastal mansions and consider us all to be trash, and little do they care about the poor in L.A., let alone Chicago, except to make sure their own poor have no beach access on the Malibu Coast.

I just received an Adams flyer in my mailbox today.

We got the Adams mailer and another Joe Moore mailer. This one takes the cake. It was so offensive to us, that Steve called up the Alderman's office and complained about it.

What about the Ward Joe???

The mailing was a slap in the face as far as Steve and I are concerned. Until the Block building, the rampant criminal activity on Morse and lack of decent retail is resolved, I don't want our Alderman going out to solve the world's problems. Period.

This is EXACTLY why I am not voting for Joe Moore.

Why don't all these people in the blogosphere that constantly blather on about how great Joe is come and walk Morse Avenue or Howard Street. Then tell me how great he is. They just don't get it.

Yeah, and someone should tell that Ginderske to stop running afoul of Illinois Election Law. He really needs a decent lawyer.

the alderman's intern 49th ward rankings

I think Mr. BrokenHeart is right. Mr. BH finally figured out Chicago politics. The very lessons Joe teaches every day. Joe is way ahead based on money and mailers. Think of what's to come! It's not about issues or forums. No way, Jose.

I think Gordon looks like Skeletor or some other scary skeleton character. I wouldn't vote for him based just on how creepy he looks.

And who the heck is Chris Adams?

I think Ginderske hurt Mr. BrokenHeart's feelings. Vote for someone who hurt Mr. BrokenHeart's feelings? Not this Joe supporter!

However, I do spot a gordonhellhole.blogspot. com on the horizon.....

P.S. Mr. BH, learn to spell check your entries. Ethical only has one 'h'.

aldermansintern, (or should i say A.S.), so nice to hear from you. But i guess a community traitor can not use one of their old ids....(at least it sounds like familiar banter). Wow, i missed posting like these, but they used to be so helpful in pointing out Joe's failings, now they are just covered in molasses for Joe. I guess green (even when it has brown, smelly stains on it) is all it takes to win some people over........

I myself would welcome any ....blogspot.com address for this ward, as long as moore-on wasn't collecting money for ignoring neglect and deaths anymore...

Wow, that's definitely empirically prove to be wrong. There's no campaign tool stronger than face-to-face (or peer-to-peer) contact.

And the apartments - they are surprisingly easy to get in to.
