* 49th Ward Aldermanic Candidate Forums Begin

Northside Power Hosts This Weekends 'Dog & Pony' Show

Rev Pagan
Amen - They're finally here. What the candidates have waited months and months for. Okay, maybe not Alderman Moore?

While most voters have already hung their campaign signs and made up their minds - a few people will still be taking copious notes, checking each promise against facts of the past actions.

What's not right in these debates is who's hosting them. We've already exposed DevCorp North for exploiting the forums as a way to generate revenue to one of Alderman Moore's supporters in Michael James and a Special Service Area Tax levy commissioner Katy Hogan at the No-Exit Cafe.

Talk about a kick-back. Not to mention DevCorp North, a not-for-profit agency, dabbling in politics. Isn't that a big no-no?

One more little kicker in this DevCorp fundraiser, the No-Exit forum is nothing more than a way to have Michael Glasser's little 'BizArts' group to get up-close face time with the candidates, while picking the public's pocket. You might as well call it a ArtBiz - "Meet and Greet' that cost 7 smacker-roos to Moore's insiders.

Back to this weekends forum. Northside Power, a 'on-the-fringe' storefront religious group, is hosting this weekends festivities.

When: Sunday - January 28 at 2:30pm

Where: Good News Community Church, 7649 N. Paulina St.

Host Favored Candidate: Jim Ginderske. (Insider at Northside Power.)

Predicted Outlook: Lot's of accusations about some worn out liquor license application denial from the Ginderske campaign.

* A Health Care clinic issue will come up.

* A few comments from every candidate about Alderman Moore doing nothing in the last 16 years.

* And the always good one from Alderman Moore, "I stand behind my record," broken record.

Entertainment Value: High rating, 3 to 4 stars.

Without a football game on, where else are you going to go? Plus, if Danny Romero starts up with his insane chanting - bullhorn act, this could be the 4 star - forum of the year.

Projected Winners: Moore and Ginderske will be mud-slinging charges and counter-charges back and forth at such a high rate of speed, causing both to tumble hard on the 'Good News' Kitchen floor.

Chris Adams and Don Gordon should come out smelling like roses after this one. Or they'll be real dirty, from being inbetween all the trash talk.

FYI: By the way, I forgot to mention, we're sure to hear a few - "Can I hear a amen"? - "Amen!" proclamations. If you don't believe me, ask our very own 24/7 Howardwatcher Toni. She can tell you.

Blognotes: Here's your chance to ask the candidates some real questions about the future of the 49th ward.

* What are their future plans for North Paulina - from Howard to Jounquil? The area has both a TIF and SSA. That's what this debate should be about.

So. Why don't you all write in your imaginary questions to Joe.
