State’s Attorney Office has Moore removed 4 times from nursing home polling places where alderman tries to improperly influence voters. Adams for Alderman campaign to file complaints with State’s Attorney, U.S. Attorney, State Attorney General offices:
ROGERS PARK (49th Ward) – On at least four separate occasions in the last four days, the State’s Attorney office asked Ald. Joe Moore to leave the premises of nursing home polling places where he was committing electioneering, otherwise known as the improper behavior by a candidate or his team to influence voters.
The Adams for Alderman campaign will file a complaint today with the State’s Attorney office, U.S. Attorney office and State Attorney General office calling for close supervision of the polls tomorrow on election day.
On Friday at Clark Manor Convalescent Center, Moore entered the room where nursing home residents were voting and proceeded to introduce himself and shake hands with residents in line to vote and greeted some election judges by name. Moore said he was there as a poll watcher and asserted that he had the required credentials.
Responding to complaints from designated poll watchers, Brian Hodes, an attorney with the criminal appeals division of the State’s Attorney office, asked his investigator Guadelupe Gonzalez to have Moore surrender his poll watcher credentials, which Moore refused to do. Moore proceeded to go back into the room to electioneer with voters. Moore was then told he had to leave, which he eventually did.
“We had been warned many times by previous Moore opponents that he commits these kinds of illegal acts and uses pressure tactics on voters,” said Chris Adams, candidate for 49th Ward alderman. “We were ready with poll watchers at places like the nursing homes. Unfortunately, significant damage already was done by Moore being in those places before he was removed.”
Hodes called in a formal complaint to the State’s Attorney office. All the other nursing homes in Rogers Park were informed through the State’s Attorney that Moore had acted illegally and that they should be on the look out for him. A call was made today to Moore’s personal attorney warning that Moore’s behavior is electioneering and illegal.
Meanwhile, in a repeat of Friday’s situation, Moore used the same electioneering tactics three times on Monday after having been warned by the State’s Attorney office.
“Moore is showing an utter, flagrant disregard for the law,” Adams said. “For him to continue to be told what he is doing is illegal and continue to come back says he thinks he is above the law. He’s conducting machine politics.”
Moore showed up at Arbour Health Care Center nursing home today where he proceeded to enter the polling place and again greet and shake hands with residents in line to vote. Chris Petelle, an attorney from the criminal appeals division of State’s Attorney office, told Moore, “I’m sorry you’re going to have to leave, this is inappropriate behavior.” Moore then proceeded to shake hands with residents coming down the hall to vote as he left.
Petelle put another call in to the State’s Attorney office where they said they would lodge another formal complaint with Moore’s personal attorney. Meanwhile, Moore’s campaign literature was lying around on a bookshelf in the Arbour House polling place, another violation of election law.
In separate instances today, Moore also entered the Birchwood Plaza and Lake Shore Health Care & Rehabilitation Center nursing homes where he also committed illegal election acts by being in the designated area for voting at Lake Shore and not surrendering his poll watching credentials, and shaking hands with residents in line to vote at Birchwood. He was again asked by attorneys from the State’s Attorney office to leave.

This should show all voters how arrogant Joe is!
Joe does things he wants to do without any regard if he is breaking the law.
Do we want a man like this being our aldermen for the next 4yrs?
Vote Joe out of office...time for a change is know!!
Moore lackey Fagus put the polling places in the nursing homes for Joe's convenience. The Chicago Board of Elections lets the ward committeeman pick the sites.
hugh is an idiot.
Joe must be convinced that he is in danger of losing the election to take chances like this.
hugh is stupid..and btw im for don gordon.
Moore pulled the same stunt at Sherwin Manor this morning. He got ticked off by the young lady from the State's Attorney office.
BTW, the polling today and Friday at nursing homes was the processing of absentee voters who live in those homes. Fagus had nothing to do with it.
Adams is not one to be trusted, as well. It is so easy to call the kettle black. Everyone electioneers to seniors; acting as if seniors cannot think is pretty pathetic. However, Moore is nervious and I wish that Gordon had the bucks, not Adams!
If you can't Moore, then Gordon, but Moore's people did point out some legitimate concerns about Adams non-Democrat leanings. You don't run as a Democrat, when you are a Republican. I think Adams is a wolf in sheeps clothing.
I think that if Craig was in anyone's face, including Gordon, things could be made to look less than positive. This area has improved, but has more room for improvement. How many who belly ache can actually say that they regularly attend their Beat meetings and contributed to change, not just belly ached, but made viable suggestions
I wish you luck in the election.
My Ward is being ignored because it is uncontested (13) so no results will be coming in.
I know the 49th is one of the one's we are all watching.
The nursing home populations are not just seniors or even mostly seniors...they are often adults who are developmentally disabled (and who also may be seniors, but not always).
Joe knows this and targets them because of it. Essentially, he is trying to disenfranchise cognitively disabled voters by using illegal influence, right there in the polling place. Protecting a citizen's right to vote is a sacred trust of our elected officials, even if that voter's IQ isn't "normal". This is a huge betrayal by Joe Moore and Fagus of our most vulnerable neighbors.
By the way, Fagus controls who gets to be election judges in most cases up here, so Fagus definitely has a lot to do with all of this...it's a cozy little club. These judges practically bow when Joe walks through to shake hands with them...Nice going Joe and Dave. Glad you are willing to sacrifice free and fair elections for a 100K+ paycheck. Pathetic.
