* Purse Snatching @ Jarvis and Greenview

Tonight at 7:20 p.m., several 911 calls were made when a woman was screaming because her purse got snatched in the upscale Jarvis Square retail and nightlife district at Jarvis and Greenview. The purse snatchers were described as two (2) 16 to 19 year old black teens. One was wearing a red t-shirt and the other one was wearing a black sweater. They were last seen heading south on Greenview - then east on Sherwin. Nothing further at this time.

Purse Snatching in West Rogers Park

Chicago News Report: A woman's purse was snatched on the 2200 block of West Morse Avenue in Chicago's West Rogers Park neighborhood.

Blognotes: Oh, by the way. I never got around to mentioning... this is now my 7th year of blogging. It started humbly in the fall of 2004. I thought in all the celebration we should look back at the Broken Heart's most famous purse snatching story.

* He Went That Way, Officer

Is Joe Moore Really Working with Police to Solve the Alleged Purse Snatching?

If we're to believe crime is down, then we're also to believe Joe Moore is the reason.

Why do I say this? Well, I finished glancing at those expensive stack of campaign mailers. The nearly 2 dozen glossy tree killers Joe Moore sent out telling us how great he is at protecting the public. The ones with all those high praises from not-so-truthful residents like Kevin O'Neil and Rose Green.

Remember them?

Here's some of the catch phrases Joe Moore used.

Crime is Down 49%... Sleep tight tonight... Keeping our streets safe... Drove the gangs out... The Architect of Community Policing Strategy.

Hold on a minute. Did Joe just say he was the "Architect of community policing strategy?" Talk about a load of shit. Joe can't even fill out a fucking police report or get a accurate description of a alleged purse snatcher. Some architect huh? Joe Moore is as soft on crime as a cotton diaper is to a babies rump.

As for the architect crap - the next time Joe tells you 'crime is down', ask him if he filled out a police report on his alleged purse snatching case.

* Back-to-Back Robberies on Pratt

3:30 PM: There has been two robberies in the last 30 minutes around the Pratt and Ashland area. One involved a purse snatching - where a woman had her purse taken from her car as she was stopped at the corner. Her window was open and a group of young males reached in and took it, then ran away. The other was just a basic strong arm robbery on the street by a youth who fled in an unknown direction. No one is in custody.

Armed Robber Strikes in the 49th Ward

6:39 AM: This morning commuters heading to the Rogers Park Metra Station are on edge as a pair of robbers, one armed with a alleged knife, robbed a male of his cell phone, watch and $100 USC. The alleged knife robbery happened at the corner of Lunt and Clark just before the crack of dawn. The offenders headed east on Lunt to Paulina, then north. Nothing further at this time.

7:23 AM: There's an alleged high-rise jumper. A 911 caller says someone leaped from the building at 1040 West Granville.

7:29 AM: Police have a much better description of these two thug robbers from Lunt and Clark. One is a male. One is a female. They're still on the loose at this moment.

7:58 AM: The police are focusing their high-rise leaper investigation on the 10th floor of 1040 West Granville at the moment. Dispatch is asking for a victim ID. I placed a call to the Edgewater Athletic Club and the receptionist didn't deny someone had jumped. When I asked if this incident had effected business, the caller said they were still open.

8:00 AM: Purse snatching at 7036 North Clark Street. This is the same area as the Rogers Park Metra station.

4:47 PM: Todays "Howard Street Initiative" event number is #06744.

5:31 PM: We've got a new "Howard Street Initiative" event number. It's #13144.

* Steve Dahl Covers 'Alleged' Purse Snatching

The 'Broken Heart' of Rogers Park got a brief mention today on The Steve Dahl Radio Show. Check out the conversation between 2:49PM and 3:03PM. You think Dahl and Company ever talked about going to a CAPS meeting before? Wonder if Buzz will show up tonight?

Attempted midnight mugging

Around 12:03 a.m. on January 16, 2013, a male black who was described as about 6 foot 2 inches tall and wearing white Adidas gym shoes attempted to rob a female in the 1500 block of West Greenleaf. A Good Samaritan interrupted the alleged mugging to save the day.

The victim and Good Samaritan first told police the offender fled south on Glenwood, but later said the offender fled east on Lunt. The victim reported her keys were missing. A canvas of the area turned up nothing.

The Good Samaritan immediately ran to Everyblock to tell his net-neighbors of his good deed without offering a description of the offender or what direction he fled.

Another Failed Joe Moore Publicity Stunt

Clipped from the comments section.
Rogersparking said... "And Joe gets publicity for his "ban the eggs" effort. Unfortunately, it was just another waste of time by our stupid fucking alderman. Given the egg war zone in Rogers Park last night, let's just say his efforts were every bit as effective as the great foie gras ban.

I just don't know what this idiot does with his time all day or how he could possibly make less of an impact."
Blognotes: Last nights stunt ranked right up there with the great purse snatching of 2007. Question of the day. Can anyone really tell us what Joe Moore does to actually earn his outrageous pay besides coming up with crazy media attention grabbing stories that have ZERO impact on the 49th ward? Curious readers want to know.

* Robbery/Battery on Birchwood

A female was a victim of a attempted purse snatching tonight. This happened at 1920 West Birchwood. The victim received multiple stab wounds to her wrist and shoulder. She was transported to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston. The offender, a male black, medium build, about 5 foot 6 inches, in his 30's, fled and is being hunted down by the Chicago Police. The offender is armed with a cutting device - and if spotted, use caution.
