* Back to Back Stop Crime Walks
A pair of walks is scheduled tonight. So shall we walk? One on short notice, the other, not so. That's the theme. Walk! Walk! Walk! Walk for safety. Walk for health. Walk for exercise.
It begins with a CeaseFire March/Rally/Walk/Ground Cleansing/Circle Prayer at 6 p.m. Columbia and Clark Street, in response to the shooting in the back.
After all that we head over to the Block Building on Morse Avenue (1340 West) for the second annual '06 - First of the Month - Friday evening walk. (See the above generic Hell Hole walk flyer everyone so much loves to tease.) I was responsible for last months CAPS walk flyering, yes this is true. This month someone else was to do this chore. That didn't happen, hence the generic model is again gracing the neighborhood. (A shout out to RP Neighbor who helped again in this months flyering.)
This month Tom and Frankie from the "Newest Guy" running for Alderman didn't go out alarming the neighborhood with flyers about some false pretense gooning walk. So crowds may be low.
FYI: This month we will not be using any noise making devices like last months mobile PA system, sorry Toni. It turned off one of the walkers in beat 2431. The walker questioned the method of chanting during the walk. The walker felt it was more of a march instead of a walk. She didn't post that on the CAPS-24 website.
Blognotes:
Flyering yesterday in the 1500 block of West Farwell I came across a 5 man - sidewalk dice game with loads of cash being tossed around. As I walked by the group of gamblers, I handed one a CAPS flyer. Seconds later I called 911 with the discriptions of the players involved and the location of the sidewalk game. I told the 911 officer one should be easy to spot. He's holding a CAPS flyer along with money and dice.

No problem Craig, you told me all about it last week, remember? Hope there's a good turnout.
Just curious if these were the good kids who live on that block playing on the sidewalk. Or were these drug dealers and gang bangers beating people up and shooting each other?
I brought the question up because there are normally not "hard core thugs" on that block. Let alone stopping by long enough to "sling dice."
