* Coe Construction Project Causes Property Damage

Neighbors Yard and Car Take a Hit

Mr. Coe and his wacky way of developing a neighborhood took a strange turn this week. Tire tracks from a construction truck left marks on the 6961 North Greenview Avenue neighbors front yard on March 7th. From the size of the front yard, this yard damage is 1/3 of the neighbors yard. No I'm not kidding, what you see in the photo is about one third of this neighbors greenspace. Now it's torn up by the Coe Crew.

The damage didn't end there for the nightmare Coe project. How did this latest incident happen?

Well, a Coe project truck got stuck in the Coe hole. A tow truck had to pull the stuck truck out, using the neighbors yard and car bumper as leverage. As you can see, the neighbors car bumper has extensive damage. As she asked who was going to pay for this, the driver drove off without a word. His calling card, the tire tracks on the neighbors yard. He left a clue behind.

Alderman Moore stands up and defends Mr. Coe but here is just some of the happenings from Mr. Coe's Hole Project in the last year alone.

1. The wall that fell over.

2. The near gas explosion.

3. Adding to neighborhood blight.

4. Poor Public Zoning Notice

5. Neglecting Public complaints.

6. Neglecting Committeeman/ZALUC/DevCorp North Board Member complaints.

7. North of Howard Watchers has concerns.

All this to build Kimbery Bares her own office on Morse Avenue. What's next? Is Kimberly that important to ruin a neighbors front yard and transportation Mr. Coe?

craig-

let me just say that no one deserves their property being damaged by anyone and if the homeowners were lucky enough to get a plate # or the name of the towing company, of course they should follow up this incident in that manner.

having said that, the photos reveal what i would objectively term "minor" damage and unfortunately, as things normally go in this type of incident, they will probably be doing and paying for the repair work themselves. i will offer some suggestions to try and minimize the time and cost.

whether that is the front yard or parkway, the rut caused by the truck in the "greenspace" is easily remedied. as a landscape designer, may i suggest waiting a few weeks until the end of march, finding a rake in the garage, buying some grass seed and a bag of topsoil and the homeowners are in business. smooth out the rutted soil, sprinkle the seed and top it off with the topsoil and keep moist. depending on the sunlight condition, either shade seed or full sun seed is appropriate and grass will begin to grow depending on the available sunlight in the coming weeks. including the trip to the store, this should take no more than an hour.

as for the "scuffed bumper", this car appears to be a late 80's model buick century. that was a very popular car and if it hasn't already been repainted, the original "stock" color is readily available at any car repair shop. the cheapest, in my experience and the best for this type of repaint is earl schieb on irving and western. they will tape off the entire bumper and paint it, bake it in 1 day.

another option is to call a mobile repair service who will come to your house and do the same thing. the largest such service in chicago and the one that serves all the car dealers is CARNICA. their headquarters were downtown but i think they have moved from that location. if the homeowners can't find the #, have them call some local car dealers and they will give the homewners the #. hope this helps.

craig, if the homeowners need more info or help with the grass repair, please forward my email. garyfuschi@yahoo

I would guess before the homeowner contacts me to do a story, the homeowner file police reports.

See, the homeowner IS a Chicago Police Officer!
