* Joe Moore's Office Neglect's to Help New Business

If you want something done in the 49th ward, you have to do it yourself. Just ask the owners of the New Morse Theatre.

For weeks and weeks they've tried to have the alderman's office do something about the clogged water drainage system (the city sewer) behind their building, and mine.

I've been told by a couple of sources they've talked to the alderman's community race-baiter Wayne Frazier about the problem. He did squat.

I'm told they've talked with community ship-jumper Anne Sullivan and got the same results. A big nothing.

Oh, by the way, they (and I) have called 311 on the matter also. The difference is, I don't waste my time trying to get the alderman's office to do anything about ward issues. And I don't put much stock in 311 doing something in a timely fashion either.

Then, on Friday, Streets and Sanitation supervisor Mike Erikison came by in his trusty white - city owned truck and gave the owners/developers of the Morse Theatre a 'earful' about the spill-over, causing a water back-up at the said sewer drain.

What the fuck is going on at the alderman's office? Here's a new business that Joe Moore takes credit for bringing to Morse Avenue in campaign materials - and he can't even get a simple city service order request filled when they ask?

Then Joe Moore not only neglected to do his job in a timely fashion, but it sure seems like Joe Moore retaliated against the Morse Theatre. Much like he does against me and my complaints about him doing nothing.

* Did spiteful Joe Moore have the streets and sanitation supervisor go over to the job site and cuss the construction people out - blaming them for the sewer back-up problem?

Well, long story short, the Morse Theatre people called their own work crew out, to finally fix Joe's and the city's job for them. This crew cleaned out the entire clog in a matter of hours. Much different results than when the city does a job. And probably less expensive too.

The Morse Theatre owners should send the bill to Joe. But, I don't think there's any chance of getting reimbursed, not in the shape the city's finances are in. I wouldn't be surprised if the city doesn't send them a big fat fine for tampering with city property without a proper permit.

Craig,

I just started reading your blog and I find it very interesting however I have to ask. What has the
Alderman done to you personally that irritates you soooo much? Carrying all that anger inside is not good for you and it could leave you with a nasty ulcer. Learn to relax a little and take care of yourself buddy. BREATHE!

{Breathing deep} It started in 1999, when Joe Moore neglected my repeated requests to solve a plethora of problems at 1340 West Morse/1345 West Lunt.

why/what clogged the sewer should determine who should pay for the cleaning

The city fining them for doing a job they failed to do. Heh, that's a good way to lose businesses when you least need to. Especially since you know city finances are what they are right now.

Well Sparkles, Glad you asked. Part of the blame can be placed here.

hmmm, sloppy grease removal that congeals in the sewers, in conjunction with gravel/dirt
cement runoff? i'm guessing that the restaurant/s don't have grease traps/pits, which are a very common plumbing code now, where-by, the owner contracts with a waste removal company that has enclosed, pumper trucks.
still smells like shit on cleanout day but..........
