We get your point, Kadee. Sure, Joe was not the one that fired the gun, yeah.

But Joe is the great Slumlord Enabler, who has, along with his predecessor Orr, been instrumental in turning this ward into a semi-slum.

Look at the diff between our ward and Ward 48, Edgewater, which is so similar demographically to our ward. That ward was, until the late 90s, an absolute cesspool, worse than Rogers Park in spite of the presence of Loyola.

The alderman there, Mary Ann Smith, is very aggressive in fighting slumlords and crime. She maintains a Bad Building list and constantly rides herd on slumlords. If your building becomes a locus of crime and blight, she will be down your throat immediately until you either clean up your act, sell, or vacate the building.

We have an alderman who is every slumlord's best friend, who is supported by a big number of 60s-leftist bleeding-heart middle class types who somehow cannot connect the dots between the shootings and muggings and gang wars; and the number of blighted buildings stuffed with the city's worst social problems.

Rundown buildings that no one cares about are a gang's best friend. The landlord doesn't care who rents there, so any person with a few dollars can move right in, including gang leaders and their henchmen. Without a base of operations, the gangs have nowhere to gather, stage their operations, etc. Landlords have to be accountable not only to the good tenants who live there, but the community to. Busted windows, broken and unlocked front door, tenants living there who are not on the lease equals a gang takeover. That's why it's important to not only go after the gangs on the corner but the landlord providing them with an HQ. Where do you think they all run when the cops come?

Thank you North Coast - I completely agree! Email or call joe's office and you get the response that "crime is down" or "I will pass your information to the alderman" and then never hear anything back

Hi,

I think this happened in front of my home last night. Does anyone have any information? I already emailed the alderman, but he hasn't responded yet.

Bosworth said...

Shots fired on Jonquil between Bosworth and Ashland again this morning. This is at least the 3rd time this summer. Shots fired on Greenview at Howard a few weeks ago.

Still not one response or email blast from this alderman.

I hope everyone enjoyed his back to school picnic over the weekend.

first call tonight
for wayne and farwell

no i didnt just start calling on stuff, but just decided that you all should know about wayne and farwell the hot corner

its better than it used to be
but its still bad.

some disgruntled female drinking some liquor just outside my bedroom window
"black folk this and white folk that" angry talk.

yes, please stop, i need to sleep

called 911, and ofcourse someone at homebase the roach motel 6832 n wayne has a police scanner and they know i called the cops.

its like they have no idea how far their voice travels

they say, "ooh he called the cops"

yes their are no secrets here.
i need to sleep and if there are loud people being obnoxious at night
black or white or whatever color i
will call the cops.

people are so nuts making everything racial.

yes race is one aspect but
to boil it all down to just race is insane.

do they think if white folks were outside my window standing in one place making noise that i wouldnt call the cops?

look noise that is coming or going, that is the city, sustained noise in one location will cause people to not be able to sleep.

that is what the major problem with the roach motel is (6832 n wayne), its better than before.
but yes they can still be loud, they just become loud and then quiet down because they know that the cops will eventually come if the loudness is sustained over enough period of time.

Philip McGregor Rogers said...

The roach motel is
taylor made to make noise.
8 units above and 8 units below
all with balconies,
like the old motel style
all facing me. and bookend on end of wayne and another smaller roach motel is on pratt.
notsure how that one is, but probably not great either.

Yea!

it has gotten better,
but the summer is very noisy
with people hanging outside
being very loud, and
sometimes people/gangbangers just hanging on the corner or on the parkway of the roach motel

for now they are quiet.

Philip McGregor Rogers said...

intimidation
that is their weapon.

that is what the roach motel has been trying to do. or other people.

the cops are at wayne and farwell right now,
someone was yelling obscenities in a orange hoodie walking northbound on wayne headed toward farwell

they are calming him down right now
not sure what he mad about.
